Oh, Marianne, I am so sorry to hear that. My heart goes out to you and the family. Hugs...Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,
love leaves a memory no one can steal.

Went and saw the Lion King at QPAC on Thursday night. Such fun. It was my second time seeing it, first time in Australia. It was good to experience it with my family this time (even though my dad didn't enjoy it. Lol).

Marianne, I am very sorry to read of your loss. I, myself, have lost too many family members and my best friend to various cancers over the years. It's terrible.

That's wonderful Sally! Our youngest is there :) What's his instrument?
And congrats, Brenda!
@ Dale, Carolyn, Suzanne, Phrynne, Vicki (lovely little verse, thanks) & Keira, thanks for your kind words.You know, it helps just to be able to share with others.
We sat, my brother-in-law, my sister (the still living one), my sister's first best friend in Canberra and me, in the room next to where my sister lay, and we chatted about her, we shed a few tears, we laughed a lot and joked, reminisced, and I think we coped better with the whole thing than others who heard by text or phone call.
And my brother-in-law shared some wonderful tales about my sister that I can add to the eulogy.
@ Brenda, I did the eulogy for my Dad too, and I must have done OK because my brother-in-law wants me to do it for Elizabeth.
Anyway, thanks all.

So sorry to hear about your sister, Marianne. You're very brave to do the eulogy. I'm sure with your many wonderful memories of her you'll do a marvellous job.
Sounds like you have plenty of highlights from your family chat to share at the eulogy. Thinking of you, Maroanne.

Percussion!
I've been having a lazy day, got on the internet to check out a title that looked interesting at Amazon...meant to be one title only, but it went from there...darn the 1 click button!!!!
Just got back from seeing the movie Birdman. We went against my better judgement because there is so much hype about this movie. Well all I can say is it has some funny bits, Emma Stone acts beautifully although her eyes get bigger every time I see her and the ending is cute. I did not find it to be the fantastic movie it is being described as. I would give it 3 stars:)
P.S. Hubby hated it.

OK, I haven't been on GR for most of this week, and I have 160 unread messages in this thread alone (you've all been very busy bees!!), so I won't be checking all of them, but I did just want to pass on my sympathies to Marianne on your loss,and to just say my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
Kathryn, a couple of weeks ago you gave me some info on how you handle half stars. I set up the half star shelves and it's working really well. Thanks :)

Marianne, I am so sorry. *hugs*
Like Kathryn I haven't been on here very much lately either and as I don't get notifications I really don't know what's going on. Marianne I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your sister. I'm sure it's been a difficult time for you all but being able to share memories and stories with those closet to you and her I'm sure goes a long way to helping you grieve and begin the healing process. Like many here sending you virtual hugs.
Pheeew! I haven't read so much as a page of my book yet today :/ I've spent the whole day updating my book database and adding my most recent purchases and other acquisitions along with my ratings, then syncing them with my ipad. So everything in in concert again...for now anyway...I will be visiting my favourite Lifeline bookstore tomorrow so who knows?? Never been known to come away empty handed ;))

Took ages but now I am on top of it the idea is to save as I go

Thanks for the offer, Julie. Shall I send you my wishlist? LOL, you wouldn't get any time to look for what YOU want!
Just go out there and get some bargains!
Just to get everyone off to a smiley start to the week:Fifty Shades of Grey
By Pam Ayres
The missus bought a Paperback,
down Shepton Mallet way,
I had a look inside her bag;
T'was "Fifty Shades of Grey".
Well I just left her to it,
And at ten I went to bed.
An hour later she appeared;
The sight filled me with dread...
In her left she held a rope;
And in her right a whip!
She threw them down upon the floor,
And then began to strip.
Well fifty years or so ago;
I might have had a peek;
But Ethel hasn't weathered well;
She's eighty four next week!!
Watching Ethel bump and grind;
Could not have been much grimmer.
And things then went from bad to worse;
She toppled off her Zimmer!
She struggled back upon her feet;
A couple minutes later;
She put her teeth back in and said
I am a dominator !!
Now if you knew our Ethel,
You'd see just why I spluttered,
I'd spent two months in traction
For the last complaint I'd uttered.
She stood there nude and naked
Bent forward just a bit
I went to hold her, sensual like
and stood on her left tit!
Ethel screamed, her teeth shot out;
My God what had I done!?
She moaned and groaned then shouted out:
"Step on the other one!!
Well readers, I can tell no more;
Of what occurred that day.
Suffice to say my jet black hair,
Turned fifty shades of grey.
Oh my goodness! That's so funny, Bette! Happy Monday to you too - and now I'll get ready for work with some truly dreadful images plastered on my eyeballs....

Marianne - My deepest sympathies to you.Haven't been on the last few days, and I haven't actually read a lot in the last few days. I have been doing some of my family history research. I sit at the computer meaning to go digging for around half an hour. Next thing, a few hours have passed and it is way past my bed time!

Yes it is. And often I get side-tracked onto people that aren't even my ancestors but I'm curious as to what their story is.
Good Morning EB's, its just started raining gently here in Sydney...lovely sound and so much more pleasant than the heat :)
Yeah, but I was hoping for a walk outside :(and the washing will have to hang in the garage.
Morning, Julie.
At least we won't have to water the garden.

Morning Marianne, yes I can almost hear the garden *sighing* with relief. Too wet for a walk?? Its very light rain here atm.
Marianne wrote: "Julie, we had quite a bit of rain yesterday too, so no sighing here. And my book would get wet!!"You read when you walk? I thought you listened to audiobooks whilst walking.. Yesterday we just had the clouds threatening all day with literally just a couple of spots of rain that didn't amount to anything.
