It was hot here at Sippy Downs yesterday so I spent most of the day in the air conditioning and today is starting out the same way. We went for a walk this morning at 6:00am and half way thorough I had had enough.I could not find a thread for this question that I am hoping someone can answer for me. I am completing a Cert III in Information and Cultural Services and I am up to a unit on multimedia systems that are used in libraries. For my assessment I have to write a proposal for the library to buy some new equipment and I thought e-book readers would be an idea for a library to have for use within the library or for hiring purposes but I cannot find much on the internet about hiring e-book readers. Does anyone know if you can hire an e-book reader and if you can't why would would you think that is? Is it because it assumed everyone has something that can be used as an e-book reader or are they too cheap to buy for anyone to want to hire them out?
I would appreciate any ideas or assistance with this one.

Another tip for lovers of marzipan (like me!) is to roll and fashion it into little fruits (usually something to do ahead of time on a nice quiet day) and paint them with food colouring. I usually make little oranges because they are easy, roll into tiny balls and then lightly roll around the grate on a grater for the dimpled effect, push a clove into the bottom and...using a small artist's brush... paint with orange or yellow food colouring! They are gorgeous! Leave to dry and serve with sliced cake. The clove also imparts a nice flavour to the almond marzipan. Little Bananas look good too :)

Sounds gorgeous Jules! I used to love those little marzipan fruits when I was a kid. Even though they all taste the same we used to agonize over which one to pick. I think you must be quite artisic to make them (mine would look like something a 2y old sculpted out of playdough!)

They set quite hard when they are dry..and its so nice to sit down at Christmas with a nice cuppa and cake with a couple of those on the plate :P ...or just roll it out and use a cookie cutter to make shapes...snowflakes and angels etc :)

My local high school in Perth was also a selective school for kids with artistic talent. One of my sisters and my brother excelled in the selective art stream but even in the non-selective stream it was recommended after my first year that I take technical drawing instead of art. With the right tools I can do a very good 3D drawing of a building!

Lol!!"Sounds like getting your oven door seals changed might have made all the difference! and I often get carried away with the brandy, but doesn't seem to have had any detrimental effects so far!

Actually Marianne this might be the time Bette is away for three weeks..she mentioned doing that some time ago.
I'm usually up but not much of a talker in the morning. It is a beautiful morning though.

I've had a whole day spent on the phone to technicians working on my PC Michael. Windows suddenly disconnected and we cannot get it to reconnect. So I will be spending this evening backing up everything before they come and reinstall my operating system. I love my computers when they are working and hate them when they re not!

Dell. I can't complain about the service though. The technician spent at least five hours on the phone while we tried everything under the sun. And someone is coming to the house to replace whatever it is they replace.

I've heard some bad reports on Dell..my brother bought his wife one, spent a fair amount..said it's the worst they've ever had.

New in Jun..."I agree - my first laptop about 10 years ago was a Dell - I saw the blue screen of death after I'd only had it for a couple of months, their customer service was next to useless and thankfully a friend who knows computers was able to help. No problems since, and it lasted almost 5 years, but I wouldn't buy a Dell again. Glad to hear their customer service has improved!

Hubby also doesn't like marzipan so I put almonds on top and don't ice it. I make a couple of small cakes which I marzipan and ice for visitors.
The oven could have been an issue as the door wasn't closing properly and regulating the temperature has always been tricky. The door recently got much worse and I had to call in a man to replace the hinges and the seal and now it heats up much better so that might help. Also I hadn't been leaving the cake to cool in the tin so can try that this year.
Will let you all know how it goes! More angst than usual this year as family are coming to us for Christmas rather than us going to WA and eating my Mum in law's cake, which is always perfect!
