Just had a fast and furious thunderstorm. Hope we get a bit more rain though.

Still stifling hot though.
well, here it's no longer like opening the oven door but it's still warm out there, so the doors & windows are still shut and the aircon is on
We had the storm right overhead and got a lot of heavy rain but again for only 10 min. Wish it would just get on with it!
It's finally cooled down here now, after pouring rain, and lots of thunder and lightning. And the wind...
They are forecasting possible storms for us mid next week. Everyone is hanging out for the first storm of the season. As it is they say the monsoon will arrive late so talking January rather than December :(
Funniest thing is happening in my kitchen right nowI made a huge batch of veggie fritters - some we had for tea, the rest are cooling so I can freeze them. The bad beagle boy is sitting in the middle of the kitchen eyes glued to the bench top. He is gruffing under his breath, then wimpering in a whisper and then every so often he throws back his head and howls as only a beagle can.
Hubby and I are ignoring him.

He's had his dinner. And he got one when I divided them up and had one left over. He is now totally exhausted and sleeping at my feet.
I had a tree fall down in my front yard after being out for the morning (no damage) Lots of storm damage here. Very volatile stormy and hot hot.
No good Suzanne...there was a 15 year old teen struck and killed by lightning at Port Stephens today, on holiday with his family from the Newcastle area. He'd just got out of the surf, was 20 metres up the beach when he was struck apparently. Poor thing:(
Very leafy where I live. Many trees down and no power for twelve hours. The SES would have been very busy last night. Anyway, we were a lot better off than some others.

Wow well done Faye!

Brenda wrote: "No good Suzanne...there was a 15 year old teen struck and killed by lightning at Port Stephens today, on holiday with his family from the Newcastle area. I actually misread Brenda's post or probably rushed it, I didn't realise the boy was killed. As Carolyn said so very tragic and shocking.
Faye wrote: "Well went to the fete had a great time at the book stall, 25 books for $10! some of them very new"Are you going to tell us what you scored? You must have some real bargains there!

I'm still upset. Yesterday, somebody (Sam Higgins) rated three of my books at 2 stars, shortly after I added them to a Listopia list. Shortly before rating them, she voted for a book on this same list.
I have to do homework today and pack for a trip. I also hope to read a little bit and I'm also eating lollies from my show bag!
Veronica wrote: "There's so many scammers out there Margaret, it gives Goodreads a bad name."Yes, it's unfortunate, Veronica.

A bit suspicious I'd say Margaret!

Sorry, I got some Danielle Steele for mum, then Patricia Cornwell, Karin Slaughter, then I got The Story of Phuc (Vietnam War), Joanna Trollope, Tess Gerritsen, David Baldacci, then various authors that for that price I thought I would give a go. I will be busy for a little while with that lot. But very happy and plenty to read before next years fete!

I guess that the fact that I'd just added them might have made them conspicuous, but there are so many other titles on the list...
I went to see Marina Prior this afternoon - I'd never heard her sing live before and she was awesome!! I expected it to be an enjoyable performance, but was blown away by just how much I enjoyed it! She sang a wide range of songs, was so approachable and she engaged the audience - getting us to sing "Edelweiss" with her (and telling us we were much better than another place on her tour recently - am mentioning no names!). My parents went with me and we walked out with a 3CD-boxset and her Christmas carol album between us!! Such a wonderful afternoon!
That's fantastic Kathryn:) Sounds like you all had a wonderful time....I have heard her sing before and she is an excellent singer..
Brenda wrote: "That's fantastic Kathryn:) Sounds like you all had a wonderful time....I have heard her sing before and she is an excellent singer.."I love watching/hearing her sing at the Carols by Candlelight (on TV) - she always looks and sounds fantastic, but seeing her in person in a fairly small and intimate setting (only a 400-seat venue) was very special!

I'll say! Sounds amazing:) It was great that you had the opportunity to see her perform:)

Margaret wrote: "I'm still upset. Yesterday, somebody (Sam Higgins) rated three of my books at 2 stars, shortly after I added them to a Listopia list. She's just joined Goodreads, has only nine books added and rated 6 of those with a 2★ rating, 2 x 3★ and only one 5★ rating. She's probably just one of those very hard 'markers' and maybe hasn't read enough to appreciate your stories. I would absolutely ignore her rating although I know that's easier said than done; as an author you do feel justifiably 'protective' of your work.
and no reviews written on any of the ratings, how do we know this person has even read the books. BTW, could be he rather than she, no clues there.
Ummm... I hardly ever write reviews on books I read. Why all this obsessing over one person's opinion?
I think it odd that he/she has rated three of Margaret's books as a 2 ★. Surely if a book is not to your taste you don't read another two that you don't enjoy? It's a bit weird.
Kiera wrote: "Ummm... I hardly ever write reviews on books I read. Why all this obsessing over one person's opinion?"Ummm...Its a big part of what this site is for Kiera.

Jeremy Porter is a former activist turned slinger. His worldview has become increasingly bitter, jaded, and cynical due to the collapse of many of his personal relationships. He believes he has become a social outcast due to rumors spread by his sociopath first girlfriend, Selene. Jeremy begins to cling to his soon-to-be ex-girlfriend, Ximena, as they use each other as a.....

Sounds like someone who might feel slighted. The subject matter of Margaret's books is in stark contrast to the subjects in all of his/her chosen books.
@ Margaret, I wouldn't worry at all...as a reviewer, I get more suspicious of books that get all high marks. The fact that a person gives low marks shows that their passion was engaged, and as a writer isn't that something you want? A book with very mixed reviews draws my attention because It shows that people are passionate in their responses...makes me want to check it out ;)Not everyone will love your work, especially if it is consistently similar in theme.
This person doesn't write anything to justify those ratings so cant be taken too seriously.
Sounds like someone who relates to one of your spurned characters! :)

It sounds to me like the person hasn't read Margaret's books at all - just because it all happened so quickly!

Also she is one of my favourites on Carols.
