It's raining here :/ And my cat decided to wake me up by breaking into my room...aaarrghh...Since it's horrible outside it's a great day for some reading!"
I hope she snuggled down and went to sleep once she broke in! If mine manage to break in they wail until I get up and get them breakfast, so no going back to sleep then.
In England it was Guy Fawkes night - 5th November. In Australia they never had Guy Fawkes night - used to be cracker night to celebrate first empire day then moved to Queens Birthday. Fireworks AR banned for public use everywhere in Australia but here in the Territory - we have it on July 1st for Territory day celebrations and I really wish one or other of the political parties would have the guts to ban it for public use. It drives me nuts and the kids hord them and we have crackers still going off a 2 in the morning!
Just a public display would be nice.
Went to Westfield Figtree on the way home from Mum's for some of my fave coffee on special, saw Rhubarb @ $2 a bunch so I nabbed (quite) a few. There were some AllBooks4Less tables, but nothing worth having.
And there was a SANTA !!!!! It's only October!

They started in the UK on Thursday for Divali, which terrified the dog. Last night was quiet though, thank heaven, but we expect it to be bad from next Friday right up until the following weekend, with the displays starting properly on Saturday. It used to be that we had to look after the animals on just one night a year, now it goes on for two weeks.
I had a lovely day trawling around at a market today, but sadly there wasn't a lot of book stalls :( And the ones that were there didn't have anything I needed, but it was still nice to get out of the house :)
@ Carolynit's for my breakfast concoction, I'm just going to wash it, chop it, steam it in the microwave and the put it in ice cube trays into the freezer. I guess that could be used for crumble.....
but I was running very low and was going to have to go to the fruit shop/deli place, special stop, but then saw it at Coles for $2 a bunch (usually $4 or $5 a bunch) so it was meant to be, and saved me a special stop.
Yum Marianne! We often had stewed rhubarb for breakfast as kids. I used to love it on it's own or with cornflakes. I've never been successful growing it here in Sydney and it's rare to see it in shops.
Yes stewed is the word I was after. the microwave lets me do it without water (beyond the drops from washing it). I have it with sultanas, chopped fig, banana, meusli and yoghurt.
Marianne wrote: "Yes stewed is the word I was after. the microwave lets me do it without water (beyond the drops from washing it). I have it with sultanas, chopped fig, banana, meusli and yoghurt."Oh yummy!! Now I'm hungry..Good thing I have some spring rolls cooking :)
@Sharon - Aw, that's a shame! But maybe next time you will strike gold!! haha
@Marianne - Yes, that IS too soon for Santa!!
@Carolyn - No, he decided to meow his head off!! I was grumpy (as you can guess) and placed him outside the room and closed off the doors..BUT...He's strong and determined and broke in again..lol..I gave up and got out of bed to amuse him instead of catching 40 winks..lol
@Sally - I always remember Guy Fawkes because that's my birthday..ehehe We used to be able to have gatherings at a persons home to light fireworks because we'd do that (3 or 4 houses got together) but after enough accidents it became outlawed. It was some of the strongest memories I had as a child. To an extent I kinda miss the fun and the togetherness it created.
Wonder why they aren't banned there like the rest of Aussie?

Hello, Early Birds. Our family's midget Goodreader, my g-niece, is coming to stay for a fortnight. Today, I have to start child-proofing the house and putting all my lovely things out of harm's way.
There's been massive thunderstorm going on here all night. The thunder was so powerful that it shook the house! Left me with no sleep :/

Just got home from watching my daughters debate (yr 6 primary level), they won and are off to the grand final! They were the affirmative for 'school hours should be increased'. Their team line was 'extra hours, extra rewards'. It was great to watch, and she was awarded the speaker of the team. I took them for a slushie afterwards and they were happy and excited. It was a nice morning!

Kathryn, if you can find the modem try pulling the plug/pin out at the back for about the count of ten and then replace it. Hopefully...if nothing is wrong it will reconnect for you in a few minutes.

Thanks, Julie and Brenda - it's my own modem - a little mobile wi-fi thing (don't know what the technical term is!!) and it doesn't have pins/plugs, but I had checked it, and turned the iPad off and on with no success, but did forget to turn the wi-fi off and on - and presto!!
Now I probably should actually do some work... Thanks, Julie - I think!!
Michael and Jess, it was actually the thunderstorm in Melbourne!! A house caught fire because a tree nearby got struck by lightning :(

Haha oh Julie I know what you mean. We did the online block.."do not call" register. It works pretty well, we have a lot less calls than we used to get.
