My son works in the IT side of retail. Now the shops are open more and more it means less days off plus longer hours as the shops in WA close about 3 hours after Sydney. He never used to mind but now he has a family he gets really annoyed.

House husbands are good - if his wife has a good job:) My brother is a house husband, the decision was made as his wife was earning more than he was. So he stayed home and brought up 5 boys! He loves it:)

Lol! No, the wait for those types of holidays can feel like it takes forever to occur!!I've got 10 weeks of work left until the end of the working year...Then close to 6 weeks off as well (I think).

I'm currently sitting with my foot up on an ice pack. Note to everyone: Don't climb a hill, and stop to admire the view while inadvertently standing on an anthill. If you do, don't jump up and down to dislodge said ants and land heavily on a rock, severely bruising your heel.

Oh no! That's terrible Leonie! You poor thing:( But maybe look at it in a positive way - after your huge weekend, you needed a rest;)

you poor thing! is the ice pack for ant bites or the bruising? Use hirudoid or lasonil on the bruise (free advice from your online pharmacist here....) and keep it elevated and keep using the ice pack.
Tonight hubby and I are going to try out the new restaurant in Thirroul see http://thepostmansquarter.com.au/the-... as we have a "locals" discount voucher (and it's hubby's turn to cook)menu http://thepostmansquarter.com.au/asse...

The ice pack's for the bruising :) And I provided myself free advice from me (physiotherapist) as well! But thanks, Marianne!
Marianne wrote: "@ Leonieah well, you don't need to hear from me then!"
But you pharmacists always have such nice medication ideas - wasn't thinking about hirudoid myself, but have already self medicated with ibuprofen on top of the ice :)

Well, I wasn't going to get into the anti-inflammatories without knowing what other medication you might be taking, or what conditions you might have. Getting into PM territory here...

I know what you mean :) It's always the fine line isn't it? Walking it carefully, staying professional.
Yes, our professional indemnity insurance has to cover us for incidental advice we give to friends and acquaintances. My hubby is thinking of letting his registration lapse and I said, you'll have to remember then that you can't advise ANYONE in a pharmaceutical manner....

Super tricky - so much of who we are is tied up in what we do for a living. Some of it is second nature, it's just the way we view the world. I have this habit of watching people walk...
I watch people walk too...But this is only cause of having authotics and loving to see what shoes people are wearing...But when I see someone walking like I used to I wanna go up to them and ask if they are in pain and I know a way to stop it! lol

Yes definitely.. Usually I notice my typos. Rush rush! I got them all done, not too bad when I get into the rhythm, and also Indy my 2yo had a huge sleep, he's a good sleeper but helped along even more with daylight savings time ;)

So your husband is a pharmacist too Marianne! Enjoy dinner, the place looks amazing. I like nice dinners and lunches if I can make it happen.

Children's nursery lyrics:Mondays child is fair of face,
Tuesdays child is full of grace,
Wednesdays child is full of woe,
Thursdays child has far to go,
Fridays child is loving and giving,
Saturdays child works hard for his living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.
From Wikipedia: This rhyme was first recorded in A. E. Bray's Traditions of Devonshire in 1838 and was collected by James Orchard Halliwell in the mid-nineteenth century. The tradition of fortune telling by days of birth is much older. Thomas Nashe recalled stories told to "yong folks" in Suffolk in the 1570s which included "tell[ing] what luck eurie one should have by the day of the weeke he was borne on". Nashe thus provides evidence for fortune telling rhymes of this type circulating in Suffolk in the 1570s.
Here endeth the lesson:) lol!

Most of my childhood was spent travelling around the world from piller to post (something i SO appreciate now - but didn't then) When we finally emigrated to Australia (I was 12) we went to Melbourne, 6 weeks later we were sent to Newcastle NSW. I chucked one almighty tantrum and told my parents enough with the travelling - i was not going anywhere again!!!
One more move to Darwin after I married but we have been here 36 years so I have dug in!!!
Starting to get itchy feet though...

Actually Sally, I meant reaching the end of the road i.e being dead......I will still keep saying "Wouldn't be dead for quids!!" unlike my Mum, 91, everything in her life nowadays is a huge effort, often wishes she had died on the operating table (spinal surgery) last year.

Oh your poor mum - she must be feeling real down.
some days are better for her than others, she doesn't have any choice but to keep going and she tries to keep herself occupied knitting for the missions and sewing for charity. And reading books I bring her! When she has the energy, my retired sister takes her out for lunch or to a plant nursery, stuff like that.
Always a plus Dale - I recently visited a friend in a nursing home here in Darwin who has lots of friends and relatives visit - but there are many poor souls who has no one come.
Sally906 wrote: "Always a plus Dale - I recently visited a friend in a nursing home here in Darwin who has lots of friends and relatives visit - but there are many poor souls who has no one come."when my Dad was in the nursing home, I am sure he got more visitors than anyone else. He had someone come at least daily, sometimes more than one. But there were lots of people there for whom I never saw a visitor in the 5 years we came to see Dad. I guess sometimes there is no one...

It's sad that she feels that way, but a heck of a lot of oldies do I'm afraid. Everyone is living so much longer than they used to, nowadays...
