You can see by his face he is trying to decide whether he should wear a suit or if he should go casual.

Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments If you are into audio books they have two great books to download free this week at:
http://www.audiobooksync.com/free-syn...

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
and
The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom

*if you don't already have it on your reading device, you must download the "Overdrive" App first....before attempting to download your books.

I'm in the middle of reading Code Name Verity just now and I think it would lend itself nicely to audio.

Thanks Brenda, it's from The Five Mile Press (www.fivemile.com.au) and it has 394 pages in total. This revised and reformatted edition published 2012. I will try to scan it again, it wouldn't work before.

Sorry for doing this here, should have been in the Librarians thread :~\

Sally906 | 90 comments Margaret wrote: "Has Goodreads changed its set-up? I can't find where to look for my messages. It used to be easy to spot. Any ideas?"

I don't think so. I have just sent you a message and the little envelope at the top of your page should highlight.

message 12323: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 1215 comments Thanks, Sally, I see what's happened. Goodreads have eliminated a separate 'messages' notification that used to be on the left hand side of the front page, but lower down. That was the one I used.

Leonie wrote: "All of a sudden, I'm not receiving any goodreads notification emails. Is anyone else experiencing this?"

It's been happening on and off for quite awhile Leonie. Since the big complete site crash which meant it was offline for 12-14 hours! They've had various issues with it since then, with it working then not, etc. It's different servers too...some people are swapping to GMail and finding it's working there...

I've been experiencing that, too, but on and off. That's why I wanted to be able to access my messages. In the recent past I have missed being notified about messages that were important.

I know how you feel Angela! I have two soccer playing sons so there has been a lot of early morning TV watching (2 am this morning!), even though they both have Uni exams this week!
I haven't been joining them but this morning was woken up early by the smell of post-game bacon being cooked at 4am.

Think I'll have to mirror Marianne and start getting some reading done instead :)

Sally906 | 90 comments Just spent a busy couple of hours with the daughter and grandchildren. Our daughter was in a car accident last week and her car was written off so she has my car. I had a doctors appointment today so she picked me up and then she came back and spent the afternoon and had dinner together. Gosh little Lily is 10 months old but boy oh boy she keeps you on your toes. Her brother just sits and reads a book, watches TV or wanders around the back yard looking for critters. And Lily is destruction on knees!!

Sounds lovely Sally:) I'm so glad your daughter is OK - cars can be replaced! Isn't it funny how siblings can be so incredibly different!

message 12345: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 90 comments Yes it is Brenda. Both our daughters are like chalk and cheese - as are me and my sister :)

And Yes we were very lucky we didn't lose her - the funeral of the man who was killed is coming up but the investigations are still ongoing and no charges have been laid against the man who jumped the red light.

I wonder why? He quite obviously did the wrong thing with terrible consequences. I hope your daughter is OK within herself; is she seeing a counsellor?

message 12347: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 90 comments She is fine mentally - is with physio at the moment as she pulled a muscle in her back. She has applied for Accident compensation which pays for all her treatment and time off work and will still cover her in years to come. So if she thinks she needs counselling later she can still get it..
