Thanks everyone! I don't really mind the rain as we are on holidays;) If it'll help you Kathryn that's good! We desperately need rain at home too!
Jaye Ford posted this on Facebook and I have just seen it - it's of the release/launch of Wendy James new release The Lost Girls where I was in attendance:

Last night with the light of Surfers in the distance:)

Lovely photos Brenda. Enjoy your holiday. I love holidaying in Queensland. It's one of our favourite destinations. Even when the weather isn't too great.

Well done Bette;)
Well done Bette;)
Tried out the new Hunter Expressway today! Muswellbrook to Charlestown Square in 1 hour 30 minutes - amazing :)

Wow! That is totally brilliant Leonie! Such a time saver. We are going to try it out after we arrive home - it opened the day we left.

Branxton to the end of the expressway was just twenty minutes! No more Maitland roundabouts, no more school zones, and 110km the whole time. It was fantastic. We topped the trip off with The Monuments Men and some Max Brenner :)
Oooh Max Brenner!!! lol What a day;) I have a friend in my "real" bookclub who works in Singleton and when she gets to bookclub she is so stressed from the bumper to bumper traffic. She was so looking forward to the expressway opening...she'll be happy!

Today we left in peak hour and it still only took us just over an hour and a half home. The slowest portion was Charlestown to the Link road, so we'll have to experiment to figure out which way is the best to go to get there.
This caused some amusement yesterday in Sydney when two water buffalo escaped from the filming of a Samsung commercial and ran all the way down King St, Newtown until they were spotted by some firemen near Sydney University and recaptured. For those who don't know Sydney, King St is in the heart of the cafe/restaurant strip in the inner west and usually very busy. Luckily they escaped unhurt and didn't cause any damage.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFxm9_...
Carolyn wrote: "This caused some amusement yesterday in Sydney when two water buffalo escaped from the filming of a Samsung commercial and ran all the way down King St, Newtown until they were spotted by some fire..."I've seen some sights down King St Newton but never, ever water buffalo!
I thought Sydney was supposed to have kangaroos hopping down the main streets, not buffalos on the run. ;P
Vicki wrote: "I thought Sydney was supposed to have kangaroos hopping down the main streets, not buffalos on the run. ;P"As Victorians Vicki, we know that Sydney is a bit different.
Bette Book Babble wrote: "Carolyn wrote: "This caused some amusement yesterday in Sydney when two water buffalo escaped from the filming of a Samsung commercial and ran all the way down King St, Newtown until they were spot..."The fire truck was stopped at the lights when they spotted the buffalo crossing the road - must have been so weird!
We have a complete power black-out on the Gold Coast right now! From here (Coolangatta) right through to Surfers, all power gone! I can't find any info about it, but hope it doesn't last too long...
Haha! That's right! I'm using the phone on my torch to read, and the laptop screen until the battery dies! lol
Brenda wrote: "We have a complete power black-out on the Gold Coast right now! From here (Coolangatta) right through to Surfers, all power gone! Surely not too much rain(!), even though it hasn't stopped all day here in Brisbane - not such nice weather for your holiday this week... Good thing you can still read when it's raining! And it's great for all the gardens and green (or more accurately, brown, of late) spaces - it's nice, steady, soaking rain - just what we needed.

I wondered if you'd be around Kathryn, and wondered if it's affected Brisbane as well...obviously not. I have no idea as it just went off - no storm or anything, just driving rain!

As long as it's gone by Saturday morning when we leave!
I'm going to log off to save battery for awhile...chat soon:)

Michael wrote: "Yeah i seen Queensland has been having alot flooding. Just as long as it doesn't go down my way i will be happy, even though i seen we are mean't to have a fair bit of rain coming up. :/"Oh, I haven't seen the news, Michael, so I hadn't realised there was flooding, but that's surprised me a little because while there have been some heavy periods of rain, it's mostly just felt like a gentle but constant stream that I wouldn't have thought would have caused much flooding, except in the areas that tend to go under whenever there's two drops of rain...
And no, I was at Chermside earlier and no power issues around that area (I'm further north of Chermside and no issues anywhere between, either)... Hope your batteries last until you feel sleepy, Brenda, or until the power comes back on!
Yayay! Power is back on! Only off for just under an hour:D
Yes Kathryn, flash flooding in a number of places... They have predicted the worst of this rain event will be overnight tonight and tomorrow, with it easing tomorrow night - as I said, I don't want any rain when we leave on Saturday!

To change the subject of storms and phones a bit, can any one remind me how to delete books from my TBR? I thought it would be a matter of clicking on edit but apparently not. Thanks.
Dale wrote: "To change the subject of storms and phones a bit, can any one remind me how to delete books from my TBR? I thought it would be a matter of clicking on edit but apparently not. Thanks."Go to your "My Books" tab up the top, Dale, find the book you want to remove on your list and click the cross on the far right-hand side of the row. Does that make sense/help?
I must be dumb Kathryn. When I click on the book and then the cross or vice versa, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
Dale wrote: "I must be dumb Kathryn. When I click on the book and then the cross or vice versa, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?"Oh, I don't think so, Dale (that you're dumb, I mean!!) - I'm not sure why it isn't working… Unless…don't click on the book - so when you have your list of books in front of you, try just clicking the cross at the right. When I do that, it asks if I'm sure I want to remove the book from my shelf…
Dale wrote: "I must be dumb Kathryn. When I click on the book and then the cross or vice versa, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?"Or, the other option is click to edit review, and just outside the review box at the bottom (further below the "Save" button) are 2 options - one is "remove from my books", so you could try that instead.

I was sent this by a friend, too. We must have like-minded friends. :)
It's great that these old photos have weathered the years intact.
