Congratulations Geoff:) I'll leave that there this time, as you have a couple of congratulations, but you MUST put all promotional material in the author section. You already have your own thread there, so you could add it to that one, or make another one...it's up to you:) http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/7...

Congratulations, Geoff. And welcome back!
Had a bit of a baking afternoon today. I made beer bread for the first time in years. I think it might have been the Billabong books I've been reading - dragging me down memory lane to baking it in a camp oven when we were out bush.Mind you, I also made macadamia and white choc bikkies, and homemade ricotta for the ricotta and spinach cannelloni. It's been a while since I had enough time for that much cooking :)
Leonie wrote: "Had a bit of a baking afternoon today. I made beer bread for the first time in years. I think it might have been the Billabong books I've been reading - dragging me down memory lane to baking it ..."That all sounds quite YUMMY Leonie. Your making me hungry :)
Leonie wrote: "Had a bit of a baking afternoon today. I made beer bread for the first time in years. You'd have to be careful you didn't get smashed with your morning tea and toast! :-)
Ian wrote: "Leonie wrote: "Had a bit of a baking afternoon today. I made beer bread for the first time in years. Am assuming all of the alcohol cooks out :) It usually doesn't last till morning though, as it's best slathered in butter hot out of the oven. (And the odd drop of golden syrup never goes astray either).

It did go down rather well. Mind you, just about anything goes down well when you've got a 17 year old boy in the house! There may be crumbs left, or not.

Faye wrote: "Sorry guys what are Billabong books? Please"They're books written by Mary Grant Bruce about a family living on a cattle station in Victoria in the early twentieth century. The first few were written just prior to the first world war. They were Australian Classics in their day.
My mother read them as a kid and passed them on to me when I was a kid in the seventies. I picked up a couple on Amazon for free about ten days ago. Now they're $2.99. I was interested to see if they read as well for me as an adult as they did when I was a child. Remarkably, they did. Obviously you do have to make allowances for the odd bit of sexism and racism (mostly in casual speech), but when you realise when they were written, the author was remarkably progressive for her day.
The first one is A Little Bush Maid.

Like you, I read these books when I was a kid and just loved them. Had to read the well-thumbed copies handed down from my sisters but I've still got them today. (Hardcover is built to last)

Sorry Brenda, I did search for the best place and thought 'chat about anything' fitted - must admit I'd forgotten about the existing thread - put it down to a sign of age. I'll move it if you wish (how do I do that?) or should I just post again for continuity of the thread? Obviously I can not move any comments from those kind enough to send congratulations or can I??
cheers

The post office credit card is great, it really works like a debit card you have to put money on it before you spend it. It is easy to use and I am working towards getting rid of my bank credit card and just having the post office one. It only costs about $6 to set up and no ongoing fees.

Thanks for explaining how it works Faye. I had not heard of it before. I obviously need to get out more :) Next time when hubby goes to the post office I will get him to find out about it.
Although I must say the word credit card doesn't sit well with me. Guess I'm old fashioned :)

Leave it there now Geoff but for future put all your promotions in the author folder. Posting elsewhere will mean it will get lost (as you see here) and ongoing posts in your own thread means we can follow your progress. Does that make sense?

Yeah I know what you mean I only have a small debt on one only because of car trouble, but once that is sorted I will cut it up and just use the post office one, however, I think you can only have $999 on it, but that is ok.

I'm having surgery on my left eye this afternoon:( Note to all who wear glasses or even just for reading - Get those yearly eye tests done! Your sight can change so much in a year and so gradual that you don't even notice.
Me too Dale. Love him. Funny thing is I was 9 when he died and up until then had no idea who he was but I've been a massive fan ever since.

I do like him too. I like more of his later (70's) music.

All the best for this afternoons surgery Bette.
Good advise on getting eye tests done as I must admit I forget to go when I'm suppose too.
Take care xx

Wow Mish. We definitely grew up in the same era. I have Elvis, ABBA, Kiss and Beatles' records too. As well as a few I'll never admit to!!!! Gotta love the 80's. I agree I too prefer the Elvis and his music of the 70's.

I think we were Elaine. Oh and how can I forget ABBA. Nothing like a good dose of ABBA to get the vocal cords going :)

Hi Brenda - Ok thanks. One small thing I am not getting e-mail notifications although I've set it up as such. Your reply to me didn't pop up on my mail system and I only found it by chance. How do I make sure I receive e-mail notification for this chat site. I do get e-mails for some other GD groups.

What did you have to get done? I'm terrified of the concept of anything in or near my eyes so I winced for you :P
Hi all,I've been M.I.A. a bit lately. Trying to get the new edition out in all the various forms and marketplaces is taking longer than I expected - doesn't everything?
Nothing to report other than it's been work, work, work for me - getting the original Kaynos stuff back on the shelves, working on my Masters and starting a new Kaynos fantasy series [I was advised to go back to Kaynos first to capitalize on all the publicity generated by all the false accusations of plagiarism] Then once I've got another Kaynos series on the shelves I can go back and publish Jenny - my head is spinning sometimes ;)
