Gosh, that's a bit of sauce. Don't tell me they eat it on eggs too - please don't cause I've never understood that one.

Just a plain poached egg on toast for breakfast, thank you! But I put a large smack of tom sauce on my meat loaf before I put it in the oven.Home cooked must be great, but a lot of work, Brenda?

Just got back to Phi Phi Island Resort after an afternoon on the island used to film THE BEACH. Book was way better than the movie from memory. Sand was like talcolm powder!
Oh Neil, now I'm jealous :) I just got back from my second infusion and I'm not feeling good. Already the nausea and lightheadedness is kicking in. My sister drove me this time so I didn't have to wait the hour till they thought I'd be OK to drive and now I think I need to maybe try and rest. The doc's say that's all you can do but this time they did say I could use some Maxalon and Imodium so hopefully it won't get as bad as the last one.Yeah I'm in Brissie Kathryn but I'm having my infusion treatments at the QEII in Sunnybank - it's much closer to home :)

Well it only took me a day and a half this time to recover from the infusion. Right now I'm in no man's land between feeling good and feeling exhausted from being sick. Still I'm really glad it didn't last as long as last time. Poor Robbie has been doing his best but he really needs my help at the moment, not the other way round :)

Well Robbie is still feeling quite sore from the surgery however he is finally free from the infection and pneumonia so he's definitely on the right track. As for me - to my enormous but very pleased surprise I woke Sunday morning feeling like Wonder Woman. I honestly couldn't get over how well I felt. Tons of energy, no dizziness, no lightheadedness, no nausea and most especially none of the horribly debilitating exhaustion that's been plaguing me now for months. I can't believe it but it seems the doc's have finally got me on the right path and if, as they keep telling me, the bad reactions do pass after a while I'll be back to my old self :) It's so nice to feel 42 instead of 142 :) Thank you all for your kind thoughts, words and prayers. Especially thank you for putting up with my near constant complaints :)

Astronomy. The discovery of the planet affected astrology, but only in as much showing that the planet is in each star sign for seven years.Hm, maybe that shows my feelings for astrology. :-)
Actually astrology - which came before astronomy as a science and was taught in all the best universities - wasn't as far behind as today's astronomists would like us to believe. There is evidence from the Egyptian, Babylonian and Mayan cultures to suggest they worked on a planetary solar system with ten planets. Also, in ancient times astrology wasn't always viewed as the 'fortune telling, character deductive' tool it is now but was more often used to help them plan their calendars and long range crop forecasts. Having said all that though I'm not a big believer in Astrology or Numerology but I must admit there are times when they can appear to be very spot on - who knows???? As Shakespeare said, "there are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy".

Very true Margaret although these days I tend to believe more in 'fate' maybe you'd call it. Perhaps it's because I'm a Christian but I do believe there's a plan for everyone's life and that most of the time people will pretty much stick to that plan without even necessarily being aware of it consciously. Of course I could just be completely wrong about everything ;)

My sister, Cynthia, is a big believer in time and chance. She says you get opportunities based on being in the right position and the right time and being ready for that opportunity.Shows how different we can all be I guess :)

What impresses me most is when something apparently disadvantageous causes a direct link to a good outcome.

Hi all,I don't know if anyone here has ever done this but I have a big get together coming up this weekend with quite a few relatives and friends I haven't seen since before Robbie and I got married. So, in my infinite wisdom, I decided to treat myself to a bit of a beauty make-over, brow & lash tint, manicure, pedicure etc. Anyway, while I'm at the Salon the lady says 'have you ever tried eye-lash extensions, they're really great, not that expensive blah, blah, blah'. Anywho, I decided, why not, I'll look super glam and gorgeous at the party, glowing on Robbie's arm. Yeah, right. She tells me it'll sting for a few minutes after they remove the tape and you open your eyes. A few minutes? Try hours! Yep, I had a severe allergic reaction to the adhesive and woke up the next morning with both eyes swollen shut - literally could not see a thing. My beloved hubby takes me to the docs, who, when he finally finished laughing, gives me steroid and antihistamine injections - antihistamine in my bum but the steroid injections, 6 in all, had to go right into my eyelids - the pain, from the swelling & stinging and then the injections on top, was horrendous. However, it did do the trick and by the next day I could open one eye and now, three days later, all the swelling, except for a tiny bit of puffiness under my right eye, is gone. The effect after all that drama? I have to admit it's pretty amazing - I look like a fashion model - well a reasonably attractive fashion model with killer eyes. The funny thing is I have hazel eyes, brown/green, and since I had the extensions put on my eyes have been exclusively green - kinda weird??? Still, I will now look pretty glam for the party but I definitely won't be doing it again!

OMG!!! Tracey. That's terrible. I'm glad at least that you can now kind of laugh about it and at least enjoy your stunning eyes. Maybe fake eyelashes for you from now on!!! I, too, have had eyelash extensions but the worst that happened to me was that they kept sticking together for a while but when I got used to them they were fabulous. Although I won't be hurrying back anytime soon, either. I think I'll just invest in a good mascara.

Occasionally we hear of these horror stories on t.v., but I guess we think it won't happen to us.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. Honestly some days I feel like I'm a walking disaster area lol. On the plus side thought when I was at church this morning I had wonderful compliments from so many people I couldn't stop blushing :) So, I guess, at the end of the day the effect does look pretty amazing but I'm not keen to ever go through that again. I told Robbie to enjoy it while it lasts lol And oddly my eye colour is still very green whereas I normally tend towards brown with amber highlights. Either way I'm putting all the horrendousness behind me and intend to rock the dinner party looking super glam with my new eyes and gorgeous new outfit with open-toed wedge heels to show off my pedicure - guess I am a bit girly after all :)Have a great weekend everyone :)

As a pharmacist, I'm wondering if the eye colour change is due to the steroid injections? Let us know if they go back to their usual colour eventually? Thank goodness you didn't do this a day before your get-together! What about putting up a pic of your pretty green eyes?
Tracey, wow! I've never seen the effects of a bad reaction to lashes, but have heard about them on current affair type TV shows. I've had eyelash extensions done a few times and they do look really fabulous! You don't need mascara, and it makes you look like you're wearing a full face of makeup with the addition of some lip gloss to the lips. But I'm disturbed by what happened to you. Eyelid injections, OUCH!!! They said they're really cheap? That's strange because most places charge an arm and a leg. Maybe they use cheap glue? I remember the stinging for no more than 2 minutes afterwards. The only downside to them is as they fall out over 2-4 weeks, you need to get them refilled,and they fall out unevenly. In the end I was tired of them and tired of not being able to scrub my eyes with a hot facewasher so I ended up taking them off myself. (Using a ton of baby oil on cotton balls. They slowly eventually all slid off.) I was left with very short baby eyelashes that took 2 weeks to grow in fully. In that time I just wore mascara and eyeliner. If you love the long lash look and have a function to go to, may I suggest going to the MAC counter at Myer and buying a set of their false lashes, and get the girls to apply them for you. Much friendlier on your poor lids! You poor thing!
That is one truly spectacular allergic reaction! Ow! And the idea of eyelid injections - you have my utmost sympathy.As a physio, usually the only reactions I see are ones to tape (even though we tell people to take the tape off if it itches or burns, there are still people who leave it on).
BUT, I had one poor lady come in, looking somewhat like your picture, Tracy - her allergy? Red wine! And she was a lover of red wine, and now she has to avoid it forever, poor thing!

Although I did go back to the Salon with pics in hand and was told they do have an alternative adhesive which they use for people with sensitive skin - like would've been nice if they'd asked me that question before. Still I have to remember I only paid $50 bucks for them and as the old saying goes 'you get what you pay for!'. The green is fading in my eyes now but the colour change is rather unusual - be nice if they stayed like this - much more dramatic and pretty than my more typical brown/amber with occasional green flecks. lol It's only life anyway and as we all know, that passes :)
