They are a type of race similar to vampires, but they aren't vampire until they turn evil by either succumbing to the darkness or drinking their prey dry.The males turn more often because if they don't find their Life-mates(the light to their darken souls) they slowly slip away into colorless,emotionless,bland world until darkness totally over-takes their soul or they lose hope of ever finding their mate. Anyway there is a who series called The Carpathian Series written by Christine Feehan, its a really great series also very big series.

IKR! them riding into the sunset saying "we have a cure," i keep wondering what will happen after people are human.Also if the monster things( vamps that have went to long without blood) would turn back into humans or not, I just wish they make a number two. My favorite Vampire movie though is Underworld!!!(all of them)
