Im trying to find the name of a book

Someone once told me about this book, it's about sorceress with magic rings. These rings come in different colors/stones [e.g. Opal, saphire, etc] diff color rings has different powers.

I belive the books were more of a series.

I know some of the tales, like it tells how the devil met his wife. Apparently she threw a frying pan at his head and she missed or something and he took her out back to show her how to throw it right.

And things like that. Ive been wondering forever and so far no one knows~!

Well sounds very much like the Black Jewells trilogy
by Ann Bishop - if it isnt, read it anyway - i have read it 4 times already and its bit of a mamoth!!!
