Terrorism is not a new subject to writing. It has been a underlying subject for centuries. Consider the Barbary Pirates, or for that matter 18th century pirates and privateers. The 21st century has brought with it dozens of extremist groups whose claim to fame is attacks against the innocent. Fiction in this case mirrors life in that any attack anywhere is possible. And that the only variable is how much damage or loss of life. That said consider all the possibility's, nuclear, chemical, biological, technical conventional weapons, improvised weapons, Hijacking, and hostage situations. The subject abounds with possibility's, and a pit fall. That being could the story line of a book, say Shadow War be used as a actual plan? In part perhaps, this was something I thought about many times as I wrote Shadow War. And because of the method even more as I work on SWII Deadly Contact. However there is an upside to it as well. Could it be educational to the public to have such thoughts put forward. Could it not make people think twice before taking that common item for granted. When a car bomb attempt was made in New York city recently it was a sharp eyed bystander who alerted police. This is what I hope these books can do. If nothing else I hope that after reading such novels people start to think twice.
