Vampire

Monica yawned. The night was still young, she could go places, but any thought of where was missing. Where would a vampire go for fun?

"We're family, right?" she said with a grin.

"It's okay. It's just....he was supposed to die. When he didn't....I didn't want him to be in so much pain and....I don't know," she said softly, trailing off. She looked back at Warren, looking helpless.
"I just felt like I had to change him."

"Can we even have a home?" Jacob asked incredulously, speaking up. "We're....monsters."

Savannah chuckled and squeezed Jacob's hand gently.
"Monsters used to live under your bed?"
"Not really," he said. "But I used to think they did."

Jacob's mind seemed to have gone elsewhere, thinking not about love at all, but about the sun.
"No sun?!" he complained.

"What do you do with no sun?" he muttered under his breath.

Savannah let go of Jacob's hand and before she even realized what she was doing she was hugging Warren. Her eyes stung as if she were going to cry, but no tears came.

Savannah smiled. She wasn't sure if Warren would hug her back, and hadn't even meant to hug him.
"Sorry," she murmured. "It just...happened."

Jacob looked back and saw Savannah and Warren kissing. He squirmed a bit and quickly turned back around.

"Sorry," she said, still giggling.
"Erm....no problem??" Jacob asked, somewhat embarassed. "We were going...home?"

Savannah rolled her eyes.
"Somewhere with a pool," she mocked playfully. "Very specific."

"Your land?" Savannah asked, eyebrows raised. She kissed him lightly on the cheek. "Thank you."

Savannah laughed. "He's such a little kid," she said a bit sadly.

"What did I do?" she murmured. "I'm a monster."

Savannah grimaced.
"I just can't seem to think happy thoughts right now."

Jacob turned in his seat and pressed his face against the glass of the window, trying to see outside.

Jacob sighed; it was pointless. It was pitch black outside, and although his new vision allowed him to see in the dark, there was nothing he could see. The only other option was to turn around and watch Savannah and Warren. Yuck! No thanks.

"We can't think about things we won't know the answer to," she said softly.

She smiled.
"I think about things too....but things will be easier if we simply let go."

Savannah shrugged, smiling slightly.
"I don't know," she replied. "But for some reason, I don't want you to leave."
