Katie nodded slowly, thumb caressing his smooth skin. "Very. Do you know what it is?" Like almost always, Stephen was right. Katie didn't read much on an..."
"I believe it's the Medusa sisters," Stephen replied. "The ones that Perseus tracked down so that he could win the an evil king's favor. After chopping off one of the heads, a Pegasus came out of the neck, creating the new breed of flying horses." He stopped as he realized that he'd gone into story-mode without realizing it. "Sorry," he smiled apologetically. "Got caught up in the story."
Moonstonesandbooks wrote: "Wordlessly, the brunette followed the blonde. Leena sat down on the rough yet beautiful stone, and tried to compose her thoughts.
She had never envisioned this scene at all, even while they were distant friends, back in the day. She had never thought it possible, not even a mere thought ever crossed her mind. She was going to reveal a bit of herself, and Leena felt more than a little uncertain about this."
Knowing that the daughter of Deimos sharing the bench, one would probably have offered some words of comfort in order to soothe her. And yet Aureline said nothing; patience had been implanted into her while waiting for answers from Dante. So she sat on the marble and very well may have been marble herself, absolutely still but for the soft rise and fall of her chest as she breathed in and out. The sound was loud against the silence of the hall.
A duplicate of Susanna’s shroud hung somewhere here.
She remembered how it had looked like against the fire, covering the dead Aphrodite’s water-bloated features, burning away with her. Its soft rose silks had been consumed hastily by the flames. Aureline remembered her position: so close to the fire she had been told to move away. And yet she hadn’t.
Melt me, she had silently commanded those flames. Take away my ice. Take me.
They had not. And then Susanna’s ashes had been gathered up and scattered with the winds.

She sat still, in a manner that nearly emulated Aureline's, but this syle wasn't new to her either. She was often staying still and staying silent.
She didn't mind the sound of a brain functioning as the only noise. She was used to it, and she knew that silence was sometimes the best way to work things out.
However, that wasn't going to work today, at least not for Leena. She opened her mouth, and started off shakily.
"I feel a bit like a person having an out of body experience. Nothing seems real. Time seems to slow down a lot, and I'm stuck trying to figure out what has happened. Robin, my half sister, is nice and all that jazz, but she's of no use to me. She hasn't even noticed anything different in me lately. I don't know Aureline...". The Deimos girl trailed off, in an awkward fashion, as she didn't know what else to say. She wasn't the best person at voicing her opinions and thoughts at loud.
[This post made no sense whatsoever, but I had nothing better. Sorry. D:]
"That seems like what I felt like in the Arctic."
Quiet and cold, her voice was borne on fragile wings of flight. So close to shattering, and yet it held fast in its prison of ice. Preventing anything from coming in or out.
"Just Susanna's face... a couple others. Food was irrelevant. I had to remind myself to eat, to dress warmly. I didn't feel. I wasn't... I wasn't in my body."
Ashy grey eyes flickered to Leena and back, the first uncertain moment. She had told no one of her solitary year and it was proving a difficult area to skate over.
[Is she suffering from depression...?]

Life seemed to repeat itself. At least, that's what Leena thought. She was tired, tired, tired, and couldn't shake off that oppressing feeling, despite napping for hours that surpassed the time total of normal sleep. Leena's azure eyes met the cloud like eyes that belonged to the daughter of Boreas.
This daughter of Panic was blown away[no pun intended] by how much these two polar opposites had in common, in terms of their past. It was almost unbelievable.
"Same here. I feel like a robot with the commands to eat, dress, shower, and sleep. Food doesn't have a taste, and showers don't provide any relief."
[Ah... :(]
Repeat, repeat, repeat. So Aureline looked into Leena's pretty blue eyes and so she felt herself falling back into the old rule: wake, breathe, walk, breathe, eat, breathe, sleep, breathe. Spending days in freezing weather that barely dented a nerve on her skin, realizing with a start that she had not eaten for two days. She shivered and looked back and commanded herself to look into the future instead of glancing back.
And so he walks a backwards path...
Closed eyes now. Breathe in, breathe out. Think of life, think of love. Find your voice, tell the girl the only thing she can do.
"Feel. Remorse, regret, responsibility. Do. Wait."

Leena closed her eyes, and decided to take a deep, maximum capacity breath that entered her lungs.
In.
One.
Two.
Three.
Out.
One.
Two.
Three.
She nodded her head, almost imperceptibly, and sighed.
Without skipping a beat, she opened her cobalt eyes, and turned her body so that she would completely face Aureline. Sincerity crept into her, and she wasn't able to stop the flood penetrating her mind.
"I've- I'm- What I mean-...Thank you." She silenced herself, and hoped that Aureline's instructions would work.
The face of the monster turned to her and she could not do anything but see the sincerity in that gaze, in the twist of her mouth. She was struck at being the one worth reaching for, struck and being the one giving advice instead of receiving it, struck at being... more like Susanna.
But she was not accustomed to this feeling and her eyes burned bright but stayed firmly in their glacial palace.
She nodded once, and wrapped her arms about her waist.
"Think. Life. Living. Loving."
But she was not accustomed to this feeling and her eyes burned bright but stayed firmly in their glacial palace.
She nodded once, and wrapped her arms about her waist.
"Think. Life. Living. Loving."

Despite that, Leena was able to feel that some miniscule, microscopic part of the figurative wall that seperated both girls was starting to crack.
She accepted the additional advice, and kept silent again.
She noticed the arms around her waist, but thought nothing of it. Many people had quirks in the way that they sat or that were present when they were talking.
"And," came the quiet freezing tone, a drop of Stygian water, "do not think of using your powers. It would not bode well for anyone."
It had started off as protection for the unborn child. Now it was something more as well-- not only was Leena affecting her, she was also affecting herself.
Perhaps the transition from monster to human was beginning. Perhaps this was a way of remorse in itself. Perhaps this depression, this emptiness, was a way to cope with the havoc she had caused.
Either way, Aureline did not know but her eyes were suddenly blazing with a fiery cold, locked on Leena's in that silent demanding order.

Sorry about the long wait. My friend came over.]
Leena froze up, and not just because of the stare frigid enough to make ice turn into a new type of substance. A colder substance.
She couldn't. She wouldn't. She had to. She would. She didn't want to. She did want to.
No.
Yes.
Yes.
No.
YES.
NO.
NO.
YES.
Indescision, indescision, indescision.
[It's OK! ^^]
Aureline held that gaze. She could see the different sides crowding around the cobalt eyes and flying around each other, hitting each other: sparks, confusion, distraction.
But her cold gaze was direct and commanding.
Do it.

But her cold gaze was direct and commanding.
Do it.

The ashy gray eyes pierced through Leena's own. She saw the words in them, easily said and shown. She made up her mind.
She would just have to be without her powers... temporarily. She didn't yet realize how hard it would be not to use it. She didn't know how tempted she would later be to brak that promise.
"I-I-I won't use them."
She might as well have chopped off a finger or a toe. It was a part of her, and to have that restarined was...painful, to say the least.
[Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm.]
Relief broke through the icy mask-- for one moment. Then it froze up again, though at a considerably lower temperature than before.
"Thank you."
She knew how hard it would be not to use a power. Her own were an extension of her attribute: they were her. Leena's were more than that: she was her power's. Allowing a touch of that empathy to show, Aureline's hand went out and almost touched Leena's shoulder. It hovered there, white and hesitant, then dropped back to her own leg.
Not to touch the girl that harmed my baby.

Leena nodded quickly once. She allowed for a semi-smile, but immediately stopped it when she saw what Aureline did.
Of course she would be afraid to even show a mere sign of empathy. Who would want to touch a murderess? A deceiver? A malicious girl? The answer: no one. Though she had faced similar reactions throughout the years, it never stopped making Leena feel a slight twinge of annoyance. Her cerulean eyes steeled over again, and she stiffened up once more.
"I'd best leave you in peace," cut her voice, and Aureline rose, her eyes sweeping around the Hall to Leena again.
There was so much in her stature that recalled the one she had held a year ago. So Aureline was moved, so her hand was moved to rest for a moment on her shoulder, so the grey eyes met the blue and something there was passed. For once nothing covered them and Aureline remained immobile for a moment until she felt the fear-- fear that Leena would see right into her and to the child that was her weakness, that was her greatest hope.
She stepped away, but not before offering a tentative smile.

A bright red signal seemed to flare up, but it soon subsided.
Panic.
Someone was feeling panic right now, and her name was Aureline.
She felt it flow into her veins like the blood that was there. It was so easy to see right now what Aureline feared, and Leena decided to take a peek.
A baby. A smiling cherubic angel with plump lips the color of unused ballet shoes. Aureline was cooing at a baby, and then she seemed to realize that the baby was not normal. It had no pulse. The temporary look into Aureline's mind faded.
More confusion was present in Leena's mind.
"Wait. Aureline, wait. What does the image of a smiling baby mean to you?" Curiosity was burning through her right now.
[Wouldn't be what she was seeing, but that's OK xD]
Footsteps stopped-- panic flared again for a moment before she negated the thought by encasing herself in ice. Wrong to let my guard down even for a moment, even for the slightest bit. Wrong. Stupid. So stupid.
Her face was cool and collected as she turned to Leena though inside she had shattered.
"A smiling baby? Let's see... a newlywed couple's dream? I don't know, Leena, why?"
A perfect image of confusion reflected on Aureline's face and she cocked her head to the side.
Calm. Composed.

Leena felt Aureline feel panic again. This time the vision was different. Aureline was holding a smiling, beautiful baby, but it had life. The vision changed again, and she saw Aureline panicking as she saw flyers of a baby on it, saying that everyone knew who the father was. Again, this made no sense whatsoever. Did Aureline have a new brother or sister?
"Maybe, just maybe. Or, maybe it was a girl who found out that she got a new sibling. Maybe, it might be something entirely different from the previous theories."
Leena knw that she was on to something, though she didn't yet know what it was. All she knew, was that it was a major fear.
"What are you asking this for, Leena?"
Cool, cutting, precise. Aureline's eyes froze on Leena's and locked her emotions under her, composed herself-- but it was so hard. The danger of knowing was eminent. Horror. Panic.
Stop panicking.

Stop panicking.

Leena snapped out of the vision again, and was speechless for a few seconds. Aureline was pregnant? Who was the father? Seeking more answers, Leena broke the silence.
"I don't know. You tell me. After all, you're the one who radiated the panic. All I saw was a pregnant daughter of Boreas, with a baby. Care to explain?" Leena omitted the word 'dead', as she didn't want to instigate Aureline even further.
Shock rendered but Aureline masked this with a casket of ice. She knows. She could tell from the listless look in her eye that the daughter of panic was looking straight into her terrors. Straight into her.
Arms crossed defensively over her chest. Eyes froze.
"No."
Arms crossed defensively over her chest. Eyes froze.
"No."

Seeing the daughter of the North Wind, frozen up, from resentment, was rather fitting.
Leena wasn't someone who cared for victory dancing, but she could finally see the logic behind it. Experiencing the emotion of satisfaction and of having knowledge completely changed the mood. So Aureline was pregnant. Huh, thought Leena. That explains so much and so little.
"No? Well, then I guess that I won't ask you anymore questions," countered Leena. I guess then that means Plan B: getting info from an unknowing person. Leena's method was to change the topic, change her facial expression to that of disappointment, and extracting the knowledge while pretending to think about another topic. To tell the truth, Leena was rather skilled at it.
"So... did you meet your father while you were gone? I haven't met mine yet." This was a truthful response. She had not yet met her immortal father yet. While awaiting an answer, Leena decided to tune into a frequency. Aureline's frequency of panic.
Pale brows twitched in slight confusion as Aureline regarded Leena for a silent unmoving moment. The Leena she had known before would not have been so patient, nor incurious-- but then again, Aureline supposed that she was trying to change.
Her distaste at being exposed and her fright as a result masked in meticulous detail, Aureline raised her brows but made no further facial change.
"I did. I worked for him for a few weeks before deciding that it wasn't for me."

"I did. I worked for him for a few weeks before deciding that it wasn't for me."

"That's erm...nice. Why didn't you like it? You don't have to answer that question if you don't want to."
Leena was laughing on the inside when she said that. 'If you don't want to' was making her crack up, on the inside. Ha! Leena could be able to figure out why, if Aureline had some fear surrounding it. Her exterior, however, remained stoic. Not a hint of a smile or grin was sneaking on to her face. Her eyes were also cooperating, and gave nothing away.
During the meantime, though, Leena was hard at work. She went through Aureline's thoughts of panic, and learned that she was afraid of Leena hurting her baby. She's completely right, mused Leena. Who knows what could happen if I accidently did something through rage? No, Aureline was better off leaving camp right before the baby's due date. While thinking that, she also wondered how A was going to hide her pregnancy from the rest of camp. It wasn't an easy task to hide a bulging and protruding stomach.
[Aureline isn't a year rounder and bumps don't show till second trimester ;)]
"That's absolutely none of your business. As are other matters."
Her tone was frigid. Leena's expression was blank-- completely devoid of any emotion whatsoever. And that was precisely why Aureline didn't trust her. She could be worming her thoughts into Aurelines' right now, she could be finding out all sorts of information, she could be breaking her promise as she spoke.
"It was... I'll see you later, Leena."
And so the distrusting Boread turned, distaste and dislike curling her upper lip. I should have known she wouldn't keep the promise. But to break it so soon...

Katie nodded slowly, thumb caressing his smooth skin. "Very. Do you know what it is?" Like almost always, Step..."
There was no reason to apologize. Katie's eyes were about as round as her fists. She had been entranced in his storytelling.
"You have nothing to apologize for," she soothed, gently squeezing his hand. "I got a ittlecaught up myself."

"That's absolutely none of your business. As are other matters."
Her tone was frigid. Leena's expression was blank-- ..."
As quick as the sympathy had come, it had gone. Of ocurse it would have. Leena always fuc*ed things up. Did she do it intentionally or on purpose, was what people wondered. The truth was, even Leena didn't always know.
Leena watched Aureline exit with dusgust, and simply rolled her sapphire-like eyes. And yet I thought that I could have an acquaintance? Maybe, just maybe, even a chance of friendship? What a load of b.s.
She got up, smoothed her dress out, and just because she felt like doing so, Leena let out a mini wave of panic that would last for a few minutes.
"Toodle-ooh," was all the Deimos girl whispered before sauntering out of the Memory Hall, with a smirk plastered on her face.

"You have nothing to apologize for," she soothed, gently squeezing his hand. "I got a ittlecaught up myself."
Stephen's eyes widened a fraction at Katie's reply. Usually, his retellings usually sent people away. Or to sleep. Katie actually seemed to like it. "Well, thanks," he managed, a grateful smile brightening his features.
She had never envisioned this scene at all, even while they were distant friends, back in the day. She had never thought it possible, not even a mere thought ever crossed her mind. She was going to reveal a bit of herself, and Leena felt more than a little uncertain about this.
