Weirdest thing to ever happen to you: Wow. The first thing that comes to mind was my first (and last) clothing optional beach I stumbled upon while vacationing in the Virgin Islands. Alls I can say is WOW. Some people should really rethink wearing clothing.
Why you like/love to read: I love being transported to another place and living vicariously through others' eyes and words.

Hello! My name is Amy & I'm a huge book nerd! I am also the Assistant General Manager at BAM (Books-A-Million) and I have a huge book collection that just continues to grow! My two favorite genres to read are young adult and paranormal. It is way to hard to list my favorite book - there are so many! I'm looking for others to discuss books with and I am always up for suggestions! I always seem to confuse others because I am 33 years old and read so much young adult but my response to that is so much mainstream fiction is about people my age with the same problems as me so why do I want to read about myself? Hello, I'm from the marvelously multi-cultural area of Southern California. I don't think I'll ever get tired of meeting people from different cultures or of trying all the restaurants with food from around the world. Of course traveling to those countries to meet people and eat new foods is even better, and I'll take any excuse I can get to visit somewhere new. When I'm not traveling, gardening, writing or hanging out with friends I like to read, of course! My favorite older books would be ones by Tolkien, L'Engle and C.S. Lewis. Some of my more modern favorite authors are Suzanne Collins and Catherine Fisher. I really enjoy YA books…so much so that I also write them. Over the last few years I've been exploring the new terrain of being a small press author. It's been a wild ride, but well worth it.
I just recently got a Kindle and am delighted to be able to devour YA novels at a much cheaper rate now.
I'm looking forward to being a part of this group!

Weirdest thing that has ever happened to was when I was born I didn't grow any hair until I was 5. I Also was a whopping 9 pounds. (For those of you who don't know, trying to push out a 9 pound ball out your woo hoo is very painful)

Name: LeslieFavorite Book(s): Catcher in the Rye, A Clockwork Orange, 1984, Alice I Have Been, Black Beauty, but To Kill A Mockingbird is probably the only one I can honestly call life-changing. Eragon series and Harry Potter were my childhood and so also have a special place on my bookshelf.
Favorite Author(s): I'm not sure. There isn't any one author who sticks out as a "favorite" to me. I guess Harper Lee is the closest one to a favorite.
Weirdest thing to ever happen to you: I was bet $20 I wouldn't eat a worm, so I ate the worm because I was a broke 14 year old. (Context: survival unit in JROTC in high school, apparently cleaned worms from bait stores, where this one originated, are edible.)
Why you like/love to read: I've always loved reading - I've been reading since before I can remember, so my mother says. I've never questioned my love for reading, it just always was, and is. I suppose if I need to rationalize, it's because I love being transported to other worlds, so to speak. Also, like a lot of users, I'm a writer and reading helps hone my own skills. (At least, that's what I tell myself when I neglect my dishes to read just one more page!)
Favorite Genre: I like YA and classics the most. Historical fiction, dystopian novels, etc. are also on my to-read list rather often. Perhaps not a genre, but I absolutely adore character driven books. I'd rather read an introspective novel about a character's thoughts, memories, and feelings than a plot-driven action novel.
Favorite song: I really can't choose just one song, so my favorite genres are folk, electro/house, and kpop!
