Please let us know if you're planning to read/still reading/have read Julian Comstock: A Story of 22nd-Century America by Robert Charles Wilson, and any first impressions.

No spoilers in this topic please!

Nick (doily) | 966 comments I am definitely planning on reading this. Unfortunately, my lent copy of "Anathem" is due back to its lender by the end of Sept., so I'll be reading it first. (Getting my months backwards here.)

Is "Julian Comstock" considered "steampunk"? I am not sure I've read much that has been shelved in that nebulous category, save last February's "Darwinia" --

Sandra (sleo) | 1141 comments Nick, I'm not an expert on 'steampunk' but isn't it supposed to take place in the era of steam engines? Since Julian Comstock takes place in the future, I wouldn't think so. But lord knows, I'm not an expert on the subject.

LOL, well I knew I should keep my mouth shut (or my fingers still).

Sandra (sleo) | 1141 comments I've just started it and am finding it delightful. Also, can easily see why it might be classified as steampunk.

message 10: by Marty (new)

Marty (martyjm) | 310 comments I've started it and it is enjoyable so far. I don't think I'll finish by the end of the month however.
