I am definitely planning on reading this. Unfortunately, my lent copy of "Anathem" is due back to its lender by the end of Sept., so I'll be reading it first. (Getting my months backwards here.)Is "Julian Comstock" considered "steampunk"? I am not sure I've read much that has been shelved in that nebulous category, save last February's "Darwinia" --
Nick, I'm not an expert on 'steampunk' but isn't it supposed to take place in the era of steam engines? Since Julian Comstock takes place in the future, I wouldn't think so. But lord knows, I'm not an expert on the subject.

I've just started it and am finding it delightful. Also, can easily see why it might be classified as steampunk.
