Did I miss the ending?

Jean I loved this book, but I'm afraid I didn't quite grasp the ending. What is going on with Paul? Could somebody fill me in?

Pavel Nedelcu 10 years later I reply. Maybe it's useful for other readers.
I think Paul has an affair with another woman, whose father had bought the motorcycle and with whom he now repairs it in his garage. This would explain why he is so familiarized with the tools' position in the garage and why, when he sees her (the protagonist) he buttons his shirt up. As the protagonist loses all her friends and the trust in any of the persons sorrounding her apart from Paul, at the end she realises that he too has something to hide.

Kostina Prifti I also thought Paul was having an affair, particularly because of the 'buttoning up' act. But I wonder if he was having an affair with that old man actually, not with another woman. Old men have been a continuous theme throughout the book and just a few pages before the ending she recalls Lilli saying 'older men can make a woman's flesh light and smooth during sex'.
