"And besides, we should probably get back to school..." Matt said, realizing he had already a whole class.

Sawyer caught up to them silently and didn't say anything but a murmured, "Sorry about that."

"It's okay," Matt said, surprised, but happy.

[Ky, Hay gurl hay~]

She almost smiled but didn't.

[Autumn]

"Uh, hi," Luke nodded in Sawyer's direction. "I'm Luke."

[Ky, Hay gurl hay~]

"Hullo, Luke," she said simply. "I am Sawyer."

[Autumn]

"Hello Sawyer," he responded with a small smile.

[Ky, Hay gurl hay~]

That's the thing about conversations, Sawyer: you suck at them. She didn't know what to say, so she just nodded.

Luke wasn't sure what to say anymore, in this situation with the three strangers he'd just met. "So, did you, uh, mention going back to school?" he asked Matt.

"Hi," she nodded.

"Yeah, I'm going back," Matt said, waiting to see if anyone wanted to come back with him.

[Autumn]

"Did you guys happen to drive here? 'Cause I wouldn't mind a ride if you happened to have room. I walked," Luke shrugged.

[Ky, Hay gurl hay~]

"We walked," Sawyer said almost mournfully.

[Autumn]

"It's fine," Luke replied. "Exercise is always good."

She looked at him and smiled. Just slightly, but it was almost a record.

[Autumn]

"Let's go," Luke announced dramatically.

[Ky, Hay gurl hay~]

Sawyer was tempted to laugh, which was unusual. She only smiled.

Matt followed behind, watching as Sawyer and Luke talked.
