"Nothing," Matt said, getting sort of confused. "I meant, like you didn't want me to know you were sad or depressed or something and stuff."

"Was?" she looked grimly amused. "My twin died."

Esmeralda spotted another girl across the cafeteria looking as lost as she did.

"I'm... that's..." Matt didn't know what to say.

Sawyer smiled a little. A slight, barely there smile. But it was real. "Yeah."

Matt sat down next to her, being more careful of the tree this time.

She noticed that and her smile widened minutely. "So."

"So... I'm already in giant trouble. Want to go to Wal-Mart or something?" Matt asked her after a few seconds of silence.

"Yeah, I guess. Nothing better to do." Sawyer packed up her notebook and pen.

"Sweet," Matt said. There was a Wal-Mart about a mile from the school. Ryan, Natalia, and he used to go there together all the time after class, and he was pretty sure Ryan and Nat had snuck out a couple times to go there too.

"Where is it?" she asked as she stood.

"It's about a mile that way," Matt pointed to the highway. "It's not that far to walk," he said and then hesitated. "We could drive there, I guess."

Sawyer looked in the direction he'd pointed. "IF you don't mind...I'd rather walk."

"I'd rather walk too," Matt said, relieved. He only had a restricted license, so he wasn't allowed to drive anyone under the age of 18 without an adult in the car.

She had a certain complex when it came to cars and she was definitely happy he was a walker too.

Matt started up the sidewalk towards the Wal-Mart. "I haven't been to this Wal-Mart since... last year."

Henri sat in class, wondering if Kenny had any guys from her stories that she could talk to and be friends with and possibly fall in love with. Just possibly though.

Sawyer nodded. "And I've never been. You can be my...tourguide."

"Never been to Wal-Mart?" Matt said, his mouth opening wide. "It's like, the hang out place for pretty much everyone at Riley. Which makes us sound pretty lame, when you think about it."

"Well, I've never been to this one."

"Ah," Matt said. "This is the only one I've been too... and the one by my house. And some other random ones on family vacations. So I guess I've been to a lot of different Wal-Marts in my life time."

She shrugged. "I just moved here."

"I just moved here too," Henri said loudly, behind Matt and Sawyer.

Sawyer jumped, startled.

Parke was at Wal*Mart.

Matt turned around quickly. "Who are you?"

"Henri," she said. "I go to school with you..."

Sawyer didn't say anything.

"Cutting class?" Matt raised his eyebrows.

"So are you," Henri commented, stepping into stride with them.

They walked in somewhat awkward silence, Matt not knowing how to act around Henri and Sawyer both.

"Are you guys, on a date or something?" Henri said, noticing the awkward silence that had come over them when she joined their twosome.

Matt blushed. "No!"

With a few school supplies to pick up, Esmeralda wondered over to the Wal-Mart.

((We call Wal-Mart Asda here. Well, it's part of the wal-mart family, but there seem to be no other Wal-Mart species in England, so that's the closest thing))

"Okay, then," Henri said and kept walking in silence. "Well, as much fun as the two of you are, I think I'll be heading back to school," she said after a few seconds, and turned around.

Sawyer was grateful that the girl was leaving.

"Ugh," Matt said once she was out of hearing distance. "Thank goodness."

Esmeralda spotted two of the students she'd seen in a few of her classes not far off.

"That's what I was thinking."

"Here we are," Matt said, gesturing to the sliding doors of Wal-Mart.
