I saw Red Dog on Sunday - I just loved it. laugh out loud funny especially if you've lived through the '70s, but yes, I certainly could have done with some tissues - I hadn't realised!!!! Just lovely - something for everyone.

★ Jess | 3071 comments I love Finding Nemo! I had a 'craving' to watch that, but I've missed the start, and hate ad breaks. I'll pop on the DVD later.
AND NOBODY WATCH HARRY POTTER ON CHANNEL NINE! Its Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which was a terrific book, but by far the worst movie.

I agree about 'Finding Nemo' Jess...I watched it over and over and over and........with my grandson, he loved it:) and the ad breaks are soooooo bad on the TV:( Definitely watch the DVD!

★ Jess | 3071 comments Anybody else planning on watching Underbelly tonight?

message 366: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (msleslie2031) I absolutely loved Crocodile Dundee (and ended up coming to Australia from the US looking for a man like that for myself, and stayed. And no I didn't find one, because Hogan's Mick Dundee was a one-off!)

But I think that for a serious Aussie film my favourite has to be Lantana.

message 367: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (msleslie2031) Carmel asked: what do you think of the changes to our Paul Hogan now???

Time chews people up, that is the sad truth of it! I still love him, though! His early TV shows were hilarious, I just saw them recently for the first time.

★ Jess | 3071 comments My dad taped Underbelly: Razor for me, and I just finished watching it. I thought it was great; the costumes and everything were magnificent, and I love the fact the two main characters are wicked females. Definitely can't wait for more!
What did everyone else think?

★ Jess | 3071 comments Today we I finished watching the Aussie film 'The Black Balloon' in english class. It was preeeety good :)

We only have one shop in our little town. As it is a tourist beachside town, we also have cafes, tearooms, pub, motel, hairdresser and the usual small industry - mechanics, panelbeaters etc. The Internet has been a boon for many of us. I buy books through the Internet. And lately have bought a few clothes. I haven't bought from overseas sellers yet. My last buy in the clothes line was a pair of new fur[not really fur] lined slippers for my husband. $5 plus $8 postage. They seem to be of average quality and are wearing well. I think many online sellers have set up shop in their spare bedrooms and sell through ebay.

Ruby Tombstone Lives! (rubytombstone) Easily answered for me: Prisoner!

And if there's one thing I'm ashamed of as an Australian it's "Angry Boys". I don't understand how they get away with doing black-face in 2011.

message 373: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Right now I am watching the latest episode of Underbelly: Razor, and I love that show :)

Another show I am super excited for is this one. It looks magnificent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OHDmN...

★ Jess | 3071 comments Im working my way through the DVD set of Underbelly Season 1 :)

message 375: by [deleted user] (new)

soo good! season 3 is my fav

message 376: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Im loving it, I plan on watching them all. Is season three the King's Cross one?

Everyone I speak to says season 1 is the best. Im only up to episode 6, and its pretty good. I love the the guy who plays Carl Williams, he's totally perfect for the role. And the guy who plays Jason Moran is just plain scary :/

I'll let you know my favorite when I see more episodes. I cant choose between series 1 & 4. They're both so different.

message 377: by Neko (new)

Neko NZ Underbelly is interesting. First season for the Aussie underbelly was the best imo. The current one showing here they have filtered cigs, someone I was talking to said back in that time they didn't have filtered smokes.

Currently watching Blue Murder which is Aussie tv movie back from 1995 dealing with police corruption.

message 378: by Cathy (new)

Cathy | 123 comments @Carmel - I caught a little of the end of the Revenge program - it was absolutely humbling to hear how reflective and measured some of those people were in dealing with their tragedies. Amazing people we could all learn lessons from in their careful consideration and curbing of extremity in their thoughts. I was so impressed! I hope I could be so gracious and moderate if faced with what they had been through!

message 379: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Almost done with the first season of Underbelly. I love it :)

message 380: by [deleted user] (new)

season one was very good...I think through all underbelly they did the best casting of any tv series every looks almost identical to who they are playing!

the guy you plays john ibrahim could have been his tiwn they look so alike

message 381: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Except for season 4: Tilly & Kate hardly look like they're supposed to. The real ones were old and fat. Yay for glamorization!

message 382: by Neko (new)

Neko Ah I never knew that. I'm really not taking this season all that seriously..It's a good show for it's dramatics but meh otherwise atleast for me..ehehe

message 383: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) Do you watch The Guild Jess? I just saw Neil Gaiman in it :)

mm, the first season series is definitely better, though I cant say I dont love the story line and costumes in Razor.

Michael (knowledgelost) Look for S05E07

message 387: by Neko (new)

Neko Jess- use this link: http://www.watchtheguild.com/
And yea the costumes in Razor are pretty well made. I wonder where they filmed parts of it cause it reminded me of some place in Melbourne people can visit for the gold rush..But I'm probably wrong on that.

message 388: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Actually, I dont even know what The Guild is, but I'll check out that link tonight.

I just finished watching the first season of Underbelly, and loved it! its fantastic :D

message 392: by Neko (new)

Neko Lost, you're correct :D Have you watched the series? I'm starting for season 1 though so abit to catch up on but will slowly get there.

I love Eureka, but I recommend Warehouse 13 over it

message 394: by Neko (new)

Neko Never heard of Warehouse 13 before...Might look into it. Why is it better?

message 395: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) It's a spin off show, but it has a better concept. It's a secret government team that hunts down ancient artifacts

message 396: by [deleted user] (new)

man I love the sci fi channel :D

Jeanette Hornby (goodreadscomuser_jeanettehornby) | 107 comments 'The Castle', 'Muriel's Wedding', 'Strictly Ballroom', and 'Bran Nue Dae' are amongst my favourites. Good old Aussie humour. But I think the one that stands out for me is 'Gallipoli' with a young Mel Gibson. The ending was so poignant, like 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid'. Poetry in motion.
