Neko Jessica- What did you think? If you watched it when it aired?

I was a littke skeptical after reading HBO were backing it.

message 202: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments I enjoyed it. A lot of swearing and political incorrectness, but thats what Ive come to expect for Lilley, and Im not offended by it any more.
I loved 'Gran' the most. I laughed out loud every time she was on :)
How about you, what did you think?

message 203: by Neko (new)

Neko Haha..indeed there is plenty of rudeness and political incorrectness with the show but i guess that's what i love about it. It is amazingly wrong yet he can get away with it.

And Gran..I loved her as well..I am thinking she will be the best character in the series!

message 204: by [deleted user] (new)

GRAN! so amazing... laughed so hard.

i think the media today is going to chew him out! but i loved it!

"your going home"
"gotcha" bahahaha best practical joke ever!

message 205: by ★ Jess (last edited May 11, 2011 11:35PM) (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments I totally agree! I laughed so hard at that bit. Only part I laughed harder at was:
"Did your mothers heroin addiction during her pregnancy effect your co-ordination or something?"
Cringes with the incorrectness, but laughs all the same :D

message 206: by Neko (new)

Neko Yaay..2nd season of Offspring is on now :D

message 207: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments I was watching 'Come fly with me', from the Little Britain guys...it was alright. Nothing outstanding. I wont revolve my nights around it, like I am with 'Angry Boys'...

message 208: by Neko (new)

Neko Carmel wrote: "Loving it!!"
Ooo..you enjoy Offspring as well? :D

message 209: by Cellina (new)

Cellina | 2 comments The Castle and Australia - both great but so very different.

message 210: by Neko (new)

Neko Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...Brothers & Sisters got axed :( My guilty pleasure is gone :(

message 211: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) without Rob Lowe it wasn't worth continuing. I hear it ended well anyway.

message 212: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) On another note, did you see that America is doing a remake of the Australian black comedy Wilfred?

message 213: by Neko (new)

Neko Rob Lowe bugged me..He was so fake...But I still want to read his book.

It did end on a high note but still..It left at a point where so many questions left unanswered..Something I was looking forward to.

No, I never knew they were going to copy/remake it. Interesting. I wonder if it'll be a flop?

Matthew Lang (matthewlang) | 143 comments Knowledge Lost wrote: "On another note, did you see that America is doing a remake of the Australian black comedy Wilfred?"

They dubbed The Castle and ruined Kath & Kim. I did hear they were doing Wilfred, but frankly--good luck to them...

M

message 215: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments American Kath & Kim was the most unfunny thing ever.
And they dubbed the castle!?!?! What is this madness?

message 216: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Angry Boys is on tonight :)
Cant wait to meet S.Mouse & some more Gran!

message 217: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Lang (matthewlang) | 143 comments When they released The Castle in America they dubbed it over with American voices. Kinda took the funny out of the show.

message 218: by Neko (new)

Neko Lol wow..dubbing castle..That is a classic.

I love when we get subtitled! I saw that on some show ages ago where they had subtitles come up just incase you couldn't understand the accent.

That's right Angry Boys is on so that means Spicks & Specks is aswell...Oddly enough I'm not that excited about any of it.

message 219: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Angry boys about to start :)

message 220: by Neko (new)

Neko o.o it just finished..lol

message 221: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments hmm...well it just finished where I am...

What did you think?

message 222: by Neko (new)

Neko Which ABC channel did you watch it on?

I didn't like it as much as i thought i was going too. Something about this series isn't as funny as the last two.But i will still give it a chance might just need to warm up to the characters (except Gran she's great!). Toliet humor just got a bit ehh after a while.

What did you think of it?

message 223: by ★ Jess (last edited May 18, 2011 11:41PM) (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments I agree, its not as good as Summer Heights High or We Can Be Heroes.
That episode was really not at all funny. Some parts had me laughing out loud ("Slap your el-lick your bow!") but apart from a few sequences here or there I wasnt at all amused.
I'm going to give it a chance, and like you, see if I can warm to it. Hopefully he doesnt rely on the toilet humor too much.
I love Gran, though not so much S.Mouse and I never really liked Nathan & Daniel.

(I watched it on normal ABC..I think?)

Don't forget the time difference between you and Jessica, Laura..;)

message 225: by Neko (new)

Neko That'd crossed my mind but then i thought Jess was in the same timezone..haha...Jess which area of Australia are you in? Sorry if you've mentioned it before as it's totally gone over my head ^^;; Would explain the differences in time as well.

I agree about S.Mouse being kinda meh...And those boys...Haha..I don't really like them either but I prefer them over S.Mouse. There are still some characters he hasn't introduced yet so I'm waiting for them before I make up my mind completely about the show.

I wonder if it was slightly changed in someways to suit the US market?

Jessica lives in Adelaide Laura...SA zone, you in Tassy would be same as NSW & Vic I expect. So 1/2 hour diff with Jess being half hour behind you...hence the program starting for you before Jessica ;)

message 227: by Neko (new)

Neko Ah-ha! That solves the time issues then x) Thanks for that :D

message 228: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Mystery solved :)

Personally, I think that episode (and possibly the next one) was just for character development. Lilley's main focus wasnt on lots of laughs, but introducing characters/scenarios and setting up for the rest of the series...

message 229: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments I just saw 'Winter's Bone'. I thought it was great.
Jennifer Lawrence did a wonderful job! I would give it 3/5 stars

message 230: by Neko (new)

Neko Awe crap another show I like got canned on Showtime- United States of Tara.

I figured the show would never really have a long life but I don't even know if it's properly seeing out it's 3rd season (currently airing in USA).

message 231: by [deleted user] (new)

i love that show too! i was upset i dunno why it got canned it was awesome

Neko Melanie wrote: "i love that show too! i was upset i dunno why it got canned it was awesome"
In the USA it got put in a shite time slot so it wasn't pulling in the viewers needed. SO they said due to low number of people watching it they've decided to can it.

-

I just watched the latest episode of Bones..talk about suprize. And I'm not that thrilled with it either. I think it'll somehow pull the show down from a fantastic show. Bit of a shame really..Romance can really screw things up.

message 233: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Also not an Aussie movie, but last night I saw "Due Date" with the magnificent Robert Downey Jnr.

message 234: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Possibly, its got a lot of hype and looks pretty good.

message 235: by Neko (new)

Neko No, I didn't but I told my Mum seemed like a show she'd enjoy.

Watched the Kennedy's mini series last night, on the recommendation of my daughter. It was brilliant!! Missed Wk 1, but wk 2 last night...don't know how long it goes for..

It started at 8.30 Carmel....

message 238: by Neko (new)

Neko Offspring..weeeee~!

message 239: by Neko (new)

Neko You'll need to catch up..something sorta big just happened :o!!

message 240: by Cathy (new)

Cathy | 123 comments Carmel wrote: "I watched Downton Abbey & quite enjoyed it, anyone else?"

Yep I really liked it - some really bitchy characters and some really nice ones - plus really amazing Edwardian clothes. Beautifully produced I thought.

Neko Carmel wrote: "Laura wrote: "You'll need to catch up..something sorta big just happened :o!!"

Saw the last bit Laura, with the young doc, he was certainly in shock wasn't he! Love that show!!"

Ah yes! That was interesting...There is another bit closer to the start you need to see :o

message 242: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Glee is on?
Eh, Im not as fond of it as I used to be. Havent seen it in ages. There is only so much that can be done with a high school setting, and the characters are starting to annoy me, and Sue isnt whipping out so many awesome quotes any more :(
Ive got a 'season pass' set on the tivo, so every episode is recorded. I'll watch them all later.

Anyway, Angry Boys is about to start. Its on its last chance before I stop watching for good. Very disappointing.

message 243: by Neko (new)

Neko Well, that wasn't funny. I think I'm done with angry boys.

message 244: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Only bit that made me laugh was:
'I told him, if you're not the best at skateboarding, I will kill myself."
But yeah, I think Im done with AB as well. Disappointing, since Summer Heights High & We Can Be Heroes were outstanding.

message 245: by Neko (new)

Neko I forgot about that already but yes that did make me quietly laugh. I was happy to see no S.Mouse but he seems to be in the next episode.

I wonder if the general public aren't enjoying it like we aren't.

It's truely a shame because like you say the others were outstanding.

Monday night 6th of June on Australian Story, my boss’s mother (Sabrina Wolanski) is being interviewed if anyone is interested. She was a survivor of the holocaust.

★ Jess | 3071 comments In regards to this years MTV Movie Awards, they were an absolute joke. The whole thing was ridiculous.
Here are the nominees:
http://www.mtv.com/ontv/movieawards/2... following categories I am most outraged about, in order:

Best Movie
'Eclipse'
'Black Swan'
'Harry Potter & Deathly Hallows'
'Inception'
'Social Network'
I have seen all of those movies, Eclipse won, and is BY FAR the worst. It should have been 'Black Swan', 'Social Network' or 'Inception'

Best Female Performance
Kristen Stewart won!?!?! She beat NATALIE PORTMAN IN BLACK SWAN.
Well then, that shows the MTV awards are the biggest joke of the decade.

Best Male Performance
Jesse Einsberg lost to Robert Pattinson?!? Also bulls**t

Best Breakout star?
Jennifer Lawrence not even with a nomination? HAVE YOU SEEN WINTERS BONE!?!?!

Best fight
How did that hallway scene in 'Inception' loose to *anything*?

Best scared as sh*t performance?
Xavier Samuel didnt even get a nomination for 'The Loved Ones'. Thats sh*t.

Best Comedic Performance
Russell Brand was robbed. Big time.

message 248: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree with you but for Russel Brand..I loved Easy A! lol
but really twilight wins every time..it's because the winners are voted in by views...clearly the voters are silly how did justin beiber win jaw dropping moment?

message 249: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments No kidding.
Whats even more bitter about Justin Bieber winning the 'jaw dropping moment' is it was up against Natalie Portman in Black Swan. More specifically, the moment when she peels off the skin on her finger!! That quite literally, made my jaw drop.

message 250: by [deleted user] (new)

don't even understand what he did to make peoples jaw drop he was just on stage?
