Brenda, no it's evening here. 9:19 now. I used to be good at knowing the time difference. Now I'm not. But I think it would be afternoon there. Maybe 3. Let me look at my phone....

I'm wrong. It's 12:20 in Sydney. 10:20 in Perth.

Tomorrow is Anzac day? Or is it the day after?

So you're about thirty minutes behind Sydney....

Yes. I've heard Anzac day is a very big thing.

"The Royal people" are leaving tomorrow after attending an Anzac Day ceremony in Canberra. As for what time it is I don't even know what day it is because we are having so many Public Holidays lately!

Yeah! I don't know why I sometimes try to figure out the time and day in Australia. I have a hard enough time figuring out the time and day here in Texas.

I used to be really obsessed though, and would frequently think about what time it was in Australia (East coast, at least)

Is it a new series out for it or is it just the one? If so I've missed the second season :(

-

For me...I've just started watching the new series of Game of Thrones..Pretty good so far :)

I also started watching a new show called Fargo but not so sure what to think of it really.

Just finished the latest season of Sherlock and kinda sad to discover the 4th season will be behind production date due to actors commitments :'(

Still some of my favs are Modern Family, Revenge (tho it's gone a little stupid), The Simpsons (but still not as good as it used to be), Bones (but feels like it could end soon).

Warehouse 13 is ending this season *sad* Really grew to love the show. Nurse Jackie also started up it's newest season and I'm getting PLENTY of giggles from that show already.

Fat Tony & Co was pretty enjoyable when it aired..But also glad it wasn't a very long season. As I haven't been able to finish Squizzy because it felt like it just went on and on when it could of been a shorter series.

Elementary is another great show with a spin on Sherlock Holmes...People either like it or hate it. I'm obviously one of the likers of the show..Not for everyone if you're a real purist when it comes to Sherlock though..

One show I really can't make up my mind on is Da Vincis Demons..I like it but don't..lol New season just started for it as well!

Also for some fun I LOVE the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by Nickalodian(sp)..It's really NOT like the old cartoon series but I love it's style and how it goes.

I've got Orange Is The New Black, Vikings to start up.

I also hope for another season of Wentworth but I haven't looked into that.

Thank you! I watched the entire season over the last week on iView and it felt like there was so much back story I was missing, but every time I checked it said "Season 1". Could not work it out for the life of me. I enjoyed it, however the above impacted on it. I absolutely loved Rake though.

Ah well Rusalka, now you must go and look for "Crownies" and watch that too. Great show, and so is Rake...I think he's wonderful! ;-)

Finished the Fargo miniseries and loved it. Billy Bob Thornton is insanely good. Also smashed out Orphan Black in the last two days.

Orphan Black is the type of show you need to binge, love it.

I've been watching Fargo too, great show.

I didn't actually watch it at all until half way through this season, and then I discovered that I really liked it. I'd be surprised if it continued after that ending though.

Sally906 | 98 comments Hubby and I are really loving the ABC mini series ANZAC girls - it is based on the diaries of real Aussie nurses, but has been fictionalised. There is a book to Anzac Girls: The Extroadinary Story Of Our World War 1 Nurses by Peter Rees which I am going to try and get my hands on.

It is harrowing what these young women had to go through to,try and keep the diggers alive.

Do you think you'll go back and watch it from the beginning? They have it on Hulu, but I don't think you have that there. Do you?

Maybe they'll make a new show that's good.

Or they could have a spin-off. Do Australian shows ever have spin-offs?

I may well do so at some point. Maybe purchase a box set, or wait until they come out on Apple TV.

We can't access Hulu from Australia. (Well, we can access the front page but not stream any programs!)

@Sally, if you haven't read The Daughters of Mars by Thomas Keneally, you might enjoy it as it deals with very similar stories to Anzac Girls. Frustratingly Keneally doesn't include a bibliography in the book, at least not in my edition, but I wouldn't be surprised if his source material included the Peter Rees book.

Did anyone else enjoy Doctor Who last night? I thought it was an excellent beginning for the new series and set the scene for some interesting stuff to come!

message 646: by Zoey (new)

Zoey (rozannen) | 1045 comments Yes, really enjoyed it & really liked the new Doctor. We went to the pictures to see it & there were a few people dressed for the occasion. Some Bow Ties, multi-coloured scarves, one guy dressed in the 10th Doctors outfit (sadly didn't look like David Tennant) & my personal favourite, a TARDIS onesie & Fez :)

Carolyn | 9927 comments Phrynne wrote: "Did anyone else enjoy Doctor Who last night? I thought it was an excellent beginning for the new series and set the scene for some interesting stuff to come!"

Yes, I thought it was a good start. I think Peter Capaldi will do very well in the role as the new Dr once we all get used to him. Do you know if there are new writers Phrynne? I thought the plot was pretty easy to follow compared to some of the ones they had last season.

@Zoey - a TARDIS onesie! Awesome!!

Hubby watched Dr Who last night, I left him to watch it in peace and went to bed to read. Hubby is still undecided about the new Dr.

@ Carolyn. I don't know about the writers. I wish Neil Gaiman would write an episode again!

message 650: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3574 comments I loved it - classic beginning - in the sense of the completely wonderful improbability of the tardis, a dinosaur, and Victorian England!

And angry eyebrows! I think Capaldi will be fabulous!
