Lol I just do the first name of my hunger games name on mockingjay. I use my friends names as well. Liko came from Nicholas, and Lensa came from Isabelle. Just use your friends first names! :P

I like using Latin roots and their meanings and then adding on. Like the root rupt! It means break. One of my characters is kind of crazy, so I took Rupt and added -us and made Ruptus!

I like to use science fiction-y names a lot. They always have a little memorable ring to them or something. Ortuso, Moder and Illisa have been my favorite names for those-type-name characters so far.

I base some characters off of real people, so I just keep their first name.

I hate "normal" names like Rachel, Cara, Lindsey, Amy, Aurora, Crystal ect. Make the names memorable, because characters are meaningful!

I really do too! I usually make my person and find a picture that suits the girl... then based of looks, personality, and my imagination I think of a name that could work. I guess that is my 'strategy'. I also know people with a few of the names that I like.
