Robert | 31 comments In general, I'd be curious to see who'd be interested in a fantasy only TV channel. For starters, content could include original fantasy shows/b-movies, old fantasy series and movies, fantasy anime, convention coverage, author interviews, and discussion/documentary of the creation of popular fantasy stories.

Thoughts, votes, comments, feedback?

(This topic was inspired by comments on the "Competitor for the Syfy Channel" topic http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3...)

Kriss A Erickson (slverkriss) | 33 comments I'd like to see that, too. As long as the content is good.

Lady (bestnewfantasyseries) | 24 comments I'm all over it! Then smaller authors may have a chance of getting their work into film...great plan!

Cheers,

Curt Lorde | 33 comments The mutilation of the Beowulf, Thor, Sigfried legends presented on SyFy doesn't give me much hope. The return of old Italian 'sword & sandal' flicks, Xena, Merlin, William Tell?

Lara Amber (laraamber) | 664 comments I give it five years and then the executives will decide "Fantasy" should be spelled "FTSY" and will program wrestling and infomercials instead of original shows.

No wait, they will decide FTSY is for women and SYFY is for men, so suddenly the ads will all be about feminine hygiene products and sending your kids back to school, and instead of wrestling we will get reality shows about fashion faux pas at the RenFest. "OMG can you believe she wore that corset with THAT body type!!!"

stormhawk | 418 comments I'd be concerned that there would be enough decent content to fill the schedule. If there were, and if there were money in it, someone would have done this by now.

message 10: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 69 comments I suspect there wouldn't be enough popular interest. I mean, that's part of the reason Syfy fills its lineup with nonsense like wrestling and those stupid monster movies. Attracting viewers who wouldn't otherwise be drawn to it.

And fantasy by and large doesn't even have the advantage of widespread exposure like Star Trek and Wars. There's LOTR and Pirates of the Caribbean, and that's about it.

I'd sure watch the heck out of such a channel though:)

Curt Lorde | 33 comments Do like the Spike Channel: Who'd win in a Fight? Frankenstein's Monster or a troll? Ancalagon the Black vs Godzilla? Xena vs Alice from Resident Evil?

message 12: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) I would love a Fantasy Channel, I'd never leave my house.

Jon (jonmoss) | 889 comments I vote for a Fantasy Channel. Or any channel that excludes all reality and/or wrestling programming.

I used to watch that channel all the time. Now, I just read books.
