Punctuation!

Has anyone started reading this?

I know that I am reading a proof copy, but the punctuation is driving me crazy.

Maybe it's because I'm a teacher, but I can hardly follow the story because of the sentence structure. I find myself counting commas and semicolons. The last sentence I read had three semicolons! I've probably read entire books with less semicolons than this book has on one page!
