"Fahrenheit 451" CASTING CALL (**spoilers allowed**)

Now, I know there's a perfectly good movie version of F451 out there ... I love it dearly, and it very much shapes how I "see" the Characters as I read, and Oskar Werner is very much Montag to me.

But let's say that there is a big Hollywood remake underway, and they promise not to screw up the plot with unnecessary gun battles and the like.

Who would you cast?

(I'm going to have to sit back and think about this a while, as the Truffaut movie is so firmly stuck in my head)

Christian Bale I think would make a good Montag.

I was thinking of someone like DeNiro for Beatty (he made a big impression on me as Shadow from Backdraft), wasn't sure yet about Montag. I was going to spend some of my vacation time continuing to speculate ...

The DeNiro casting sounds good to me

I disagree with Christian Bale making a good Montag. He played a similar character to Montag in Equilibrium which actually drew from F451 and it was really among his best performances. I honestly think Don Cheadle would make a good Montag.
