#4 Possible Side Effects - Augusten Burroughs
#5 Start Your Own Pet Sitting Business - Cheryl Kimball (ok not a novel, but a good informative book nonetheless)

#6 How to start a Home-Based pet care business - K. Salzberg
#7 Pet sitting for profit P. Moran
Again, these aren't novels but I would definitely recommend these books to anybody who is an aspiring pet sitter like myself.

Is this your book challenge for this year? I'm doing one to that a book club on cafemom.com started. I put it somewhere on my profile. Not that I read any help picking up a book but it keeps me concentrating sometimes. :) I'm doing it differently though, I'm trying to read a different book for each letter (I've already used the same letters over and over and still need a few more) and the same thing with the authors. I'm using the same author and book for each list until I get done with the titles which should be soon if I can stop redoing letters already done. LOL Then I'm going to try to get a different author for each letter. So I guess that'll be at least 52 so we're on the same track! :)
You'll have to tell me how you like The Secret Life Of Bees. I've seen mostly good reviews about it and I have it sitting on my bookshelf just waiting for me but I've been bypassing it so far. I have seen a few reviews that said it's pretty bad although it looks good to me. I haven't read anything by her yet and I want to eventually read The Mermaid Chair also I think. Have you read that one?
LOoved the Secret Life of Bees- good historical fiction about Jim Crow Laws, being black and trying to vote for the lst time in the South and a story about a great little girl, Lily and her friend, Rosleen who has cared for Lily since her mom died. But I was less than impressed with the Mermain Chair....
Yup, I'm trying to get 50 books by the end of this year since I started at the beginning of July. Nothing too complicated since this is my first attempt at a book challenge other than just reading random books and not keeping track of it or discussing it with anyone.
I really liked the Secret Life of Bees, almost as much as The Mermaid Chair. Both well written and had a great storyline that flowed well and easily kept me wanting to rush back to read some more. What I really liked about both books is that you easily "fell in love" with the characters and wanted to know what was going to happen to them next (even after you finish the book), unlike some books that you read and don't care much about during or after reading.
I'm glad to hear your opinion on The Secret Life of Bees - I have it on my TBR pile but don't know when I'll get to it (have two challenges going on and I need to read more book of the Author Challenge if I want to finish it by the end of the year.)

Ok so it's New Years day 2009 and I am short 9 books from my original 50 books from July challenge. I really got sidetracked with my writing in November so I didn't read as much as I normally do. But oh well, no biggie, I did accomplish reading 41 books, and spent less time on the computer, which was a part of my goal too.
Now onto the 2009 challenge!

Are you a big Harry Potter fan? My sister and I love the series and cannot wait for the 6th movie to come out in July. I would be interested in knowing what you think of Twilight. I thought it was ok. I was not really into the book until reading 300+ pages into the book. My sister and I recently went and saw the movie and let me tell you, recently finishing the book, I prefered the movie. It is not often that I prefer the book over the movie!I thought The Pact, My Sister's Keeper, and Secret Life of Bees were amazing. I would love to hear your thoughts on this!
Jennifer-
Yup, I love HP and am anxiously awaiting the movies too, but I do like the books better.
I wasn't too impressed with the Twilight book either and I was kind of bored with it until more than halfway into it too.
As for the Jodi Piccoult and Sue Monk Kidd books I really enjoyed reading all of them. They're both new authors for me and have quickly picked all of their books out to eventually read the rest of them. The mermaid chair was wonderful too!
