Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Pam, I'm glad you enjoyed the book. I've not yet read The Sugar Queen or The Girl Who Chased the Moon but I've heard good things. Good luck with Naked in Death, it's worth the wait :)

message 452: by FlibBityFLooB (new)

FlibBityFLooB Becky -- yay! I'm glad you liked it. I'm almost done with book 3 in the same series and it is just as witty. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series :)

Fran | 12278 comments Hi Sue!
I finished another rec you gave me, Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. I really liked it. Because I watch True Blood on tv, I was picturing the characters in the show the entire time, even though most of the time the descriptions didn't match! I am definitely going to read the rest of the series. Thanks for the push to read it.

message 454: by Kate (new)

Kate (literarykate) | 109 comments Thanks KimKirt for recommending Suddenly You. I absolutely love Jack Devlin now and plan on reading more Kleypas books. :)

I started this series because of the show as well. But now I drive my husband nuts because I'm always comparing the two. I thought the first season followed the first book fairly well, but after that they start to get a bit different. But I hope you read on in the series. I've really like them!

message 456: by Gigi (new)

Gigi | 1149 comments Carolyn,

I finished The Bride. My first Garwood book and I really enjoyed it. I completely understand why so many people enjoy her books. I'm definitely going to pick up another one. Thanks for the great rec!!

I'm so glad you enjoyed Lover Awakened and Shiver. I also enjoyed the next one. So, I'm glad to hear you're going to continue with the series.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments I'm going to break a couple of rules and change one or two things. Just for this month and see if we can't do something I've been thinking about.

When you sign up, list your birthday (month and day only). We'll see if we can't have a little fun.

Ez (ezrah-rah) | 387 comments Just finished my rec from Sherri today. I chose "Long Hard Ride" by Lorelei James from the list she provided. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me at all. I gave it 2-stars.

message 466: by Tatiana (new)

Tatiana (tatiana_g) I attempted to read one of my recs - Dead Witch Walking (Rachel Morgan/The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison , unfortunately it wasn't quite to my taste. I will try another one and should be done by the end of the month, but as of now I am not finished yet.

message 467: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments I finished Under Her Skin by Susan Mallery, recommended by Leah. Sometimes you just have to suspend your analytical tendencies to enjoy a book. One the one hand, this was a fun read. On the other, the heroine has serious daddy issues that need to be resolved, and she basically prostituted herself to get what she wanted. This was my first Susan Mallery book, and I always enjoy trying new authors. I think my favorite character was Dana. I wouldn't mind reading her story. Thanks for the rec, Leah!

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Finished a second recommendation a couple of days ago, The Thirteenth Tale.

Beautiful prose, intriguing plot, but somehow by the later part, I just want it to end. Still not a bad book.

Thanks for the suggestion, Sandy.

I'm glad you liked it a little, Sandy. I hope you will give Susan Mallery another chance. If you are interested, Dana's book is the fourth (and last) book of the series.

Oh, I liked it more than a little and I will definitely read Mallery again. I enjoyed this book...3 stars in my world is a good rating! :-)

message 472: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) LOL, okay, good! I'm glad I was able to turn you onto a new author, Sandy :D

message 473: by Melanie (last edited Sep 27, 2010 10:53AM) (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 1339 comments Dee... Just got back from the US:-) Read a second rec, Goddess of the Rose and liked it so much that I went ahead and bought Goddess of Light, Goddess of the Sea, Goddess of Spring and Warrior Rising:-) Thanks for the rec.. I love Beauty and Beast retellings and this one was an interesting twist to a great tale!

message 474: by Kristina Simon (new)

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) Of Lucy's recs to me, I read Relic -- great start to a new (to me) series. Yay! I also read Mockingjay -- a great end to an old series ;o). Thanks, Lucy! I enjoyed both of them very much and I'll be continuing the Pendergast series.

message 475: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) Rossy, I am sad to say that I have been a slacker this month as I have not read my book and I know I won't get the chance. I am definitely going to read my book for October and Jim's challenge, though! Promise! :D

message 476: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. Polina - I loved Mine Till Midnight. I was crazy about her Wallflower series and didn't think I'd like this one as much but I did. I loved how it brought some of the characters from the Wallflowers into this series. I was sad to think I wouldn't see them again. I enjoyed it so much I read Seduce Me at Sunrise right after it and am planning on re-reading book #3 as soon as I get book #4 (which I just bought on half.com). Thanks for the recommendation!

Desperado (lethallovely) | 822 comments Ashley FL, I finished Before I Fall tonight. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for me. I like to be able to empathize with the MC & Sam wasn't my cup of tea at all. Better luck next time & thank you very much for rec!

Thank you Debbie!

Hey Rachel, I just finished Beyond the Night and I loved it!!!
I think the whole apocalyptic/end of the world theme was very interesting and well developed.
I like Jade and Elliot but would've liked a little more romance and action there... but that's just me!... I'm pretty sure I'll be reading the next one in the series, didn't you have a bunch of questions after reading this one?

If you read the next 2= many unanswered questions. Book #4 coming out early next year. When I first started reading I thought it would be trilogy, but am glad it's not. I've enjoyed them. There are a lot of pop cultures references in them, so not sure if they will "stand the test of time." But, I loved them!

I had been busy that I almost forgot to post this. I finished another recommendation of yours. Diane Setterfield's The Thirteenth Tale was an interesting book. I love the prose, very beautiful. Not my usual choice but I enjoyed it.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Yea, I finished Hearts Aflame by Johanna Lindsey. I forgot how much I liked her books.

Thanks AshleyAlexis for the awesome recommendations!!! I also just got Covet from the library on audiobook so I'm reading that one next, I just wasn't able to fit it in for this challenge. :-)

I finally read The Unsung Hero. Thanks for recommending it. I really enjoyed Mallory's story as well as the friendship between Joe and Charles. The main characters were just ok, but everything else really carried the book.
