Which LIST book did you just finish?
Finished The Monk by Matthew Gregory Lewis (a little while back, but forgot to post) and The Shining by Stephen King.
Finished The Mysteries of Udolpho by Radcliffe, damsel in distress, spooky Italian castles and French chateaus. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

How was it Mike, did you enjoy it? I loved it.

We are reading that in Ambiclassics. How is it?

Ginny wrote: "Just finished The Scarlett Letter"I'm just starting it. I'm still reading the very long forward and enjoying the wit of that!
Just finished If this is a Man and The Truce by Primo Levi. Brilliant. A testament to human endurance.
Just finished The Sun Also Rises. Let's just say I enjoyed the book but it still boggles my mind that Brett was on the ho stroll but everyone was still enamored by her!
Just finished Brideshead Revisited, audio book version read by Jeremy Irons. HIGHLY recommended. Irons does the voices very well. Enjoyed it a great deal.
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark (audio version). I really enjoyed the book and the title character.Could someone enlighten me on the reason for this novel is included on this list? I'm not sure how it advanced literature.
I just finished Life of Pi. At first it was a little slow, but then the second part picked right up and I couldn't put it down.
Brandy wrote: "I just finished A Discovery of Witches I loved it! just hoping theres a 2nd one coming out! :)"Not a list book. Sorry.
A Heart So White by Javier Marías... which was dropped on 2008. In my opinion, it shouldn't be! This was such a great book!
Finished "A Hero of Our Time" by Lermontov a few days ago.I thought it was very, very good! A quick read also!
Just finished my first Jane Austen- Pride and Prejudice. I was expecting chick-lit and was very surprised that it was so witty! Maybe I'm just a narcissist, but I love finding characters that remind me of ME. Elizabeth Bennett is like an old-school, sarcastic optimist. Just like me! Great book, how have I never read Austen before??
Pereria Maintains (Pereria Declares), Antonio Tabbuchi a good Portugese novel by an author who I had never heard of, one of those nice 1001 finds.
Just finished Quicksand by Nell Larsen - took aaaaaaaaaaaaaaages to get into it and to be honest I struggled my way past even the first two pages. But after a little application it turned out to be a really good book. Helga Crane is not the most endearing protaganist but her life is compelling and I defy the introduction at the front not to move you to tears!
Just finished The plumed serpent by Lawrence, what is a boy from Derbyshire doing writing about Mexico?. Did like it though, though not as much as Aaron's rod.
I finally finished The Elegance of the Hedgehog. There were parts I found really hard to get through. The story seemed to drag a bit at times.
LDB wrote: "Aishwarya wrote: "I read Never Let Me Go, and was pretty disappointed. It was a nice little book that'll leave you wondering with the ever troubling question Asimov plagued us with; but..."Well I still think about it from time to time so I definitely disagree.
