Could someone enlighten me on the reason for this novel is included on this list? I'm not sure how it advanced literature.

KHoopMan (eliza_morgan) Just finished my first Jane Austen- Pride and Prejudice. I was expecting chick-lit and was very surprised that it was so witty! Maybe I'm just a narcissist, but I love finding characters that remind me of ME. Elizabeth Bennett is like an old-school, sarcastic optimist. Just like me! Great book, how have I never read Austen before??
