It is! I didn't want to put it down. I saw that you have The Thirteenth Tale on your tbr list too, but you should read The Woman in White fist. The book is actually mentioned in Thirteenth Tale.
Thanks Maria, I will read TWiW first! In fact, I already downloaded it onto my stanza app to start reading right after I finish The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.
Finished reading Bonjour Tristesse by Francoise Sagan. Short and sweetish, not so sweet towards the end but it starts that way.
I just finished Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I could not relate to it since I have yet to go to Las Vegas!
Invisible by Paul Auster. I recommend it if you can get through the discomfort of the protagonist's teen years.
I finished The Castle of Otranto, significant for being the first gothic novel, starting that genre. It was ok but a bit simplistic by today's standards and feels dated and primitive.
I just finished The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy which was very good and Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys which was okay and a quick read.
there's no tune in books, so they're more like poems than songs. If you insist they're songs, sing them during the meet-up to demonstrate your claim.
Work got crazy for a long time, then I got laid off, so now I'm back to the list! Finally finished A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Sister Carrie.Meet-up?
Took me a week to read The Island of Dr. Moreau, would have finished it sooner if I just had a day to myself to read. Don't have those often enough. At any rate the book was ok not my favorite of the list and I'm sure will not be my least favorite either. I believe that if I had been on that island like Prendick I would have lost a little of humanity in myself. I believe I would have gone completely insane to have to deal with the Laws and those who obeyed them. Those cries of the Puma would haunt my dreams at night where I couldn't rest.
I just finished Animal Farm. It was a really interesting reading. A good point of view for human nature or animal :)
just finished Stephen King's Carrie. Don't know if it's on the list, but I read it and liked it. Interesting fiction interweaving with "facts"
Just finished Invisible Man, I didnt really overly like it, it was just okay for me, some bits better than others. Wouldn't reread.

I just finished June's selection of Through the Looking Glass, and What Alica Found There by Lewis Carroll and I did not enjoy it at all. I believe it was too quirky for my taste but I am reading i know why the Cage Birds Sings by Maya Angelou next.
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë. Liked it, though nowhere near as good as Emily's "Wuthering Heights". The theme was quite revolutionary (a woman leaving her husband in the mid 19th century) but the treatment of it was a bit moralistic and stereotyped. Enjoyed the story, though.
The Tin Flute by Gabrielle Roy, The Tin Drum by Gunter Grass and Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis. I finished my reviews for these three today.
Just finished The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler yesterday. It looks like I'll be adding the rest of the Philip Marlowe novels to my never-ending to-be-read pile!
Pandora wrote: "paul auster Cather in the rye it is nice book It makes me feel good cuz it is funny"Paul Auster did not write Catcher in the Rye, Pandora. J. D. Salinger (may his soul rest in peace) did.

May we know why?
