It is! I didn't want to put it down. I saw that you have The Thirteenth Tale on your tbr list too, but you should read The Woman in White fist. The book is actually mentioned in Thirteenth Tale.

message 3004: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Thanks Maria, I will read TWiW first! In fact, I already downloaded it onto my stanza app to start reading right after I finish The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.

message 3005: by Katrina (new)

Katrina (katmcv) | 35 comments Finished reading Bonjour Tristesse by Francoise Sagan. Short and sweetish, not so sweet towards the end but it starts that way.

message 3006: by Lianne (new)

Lianne (eclecticreading) I finished reading Graham Greene's The Power and the Glory. It was a very interesting read =)

message 3007: by K.D. (new)

K.D. Absolutely (oldkd) | 248 comments I just finished Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I could not relate to it since I have yet to go to Las Vegas!

message 3008: by Becky (new)

Becky (munchkinland_farm) | 248 comments Invisible by Paul Auster. I recommend it if you can get through the discomfort of the protagonist's teen years.

message 3009: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Taylor (kristilureads) Just finished Of Mice and Men.

message 3010: by Moira (new)

Moira (mguthrie) Agnes Grey, by Anne Bronte

message 3011: by Chel (new)

Chel | 380 comments I finished The Castle of Otranto, significant for being the first gothic novel, starting that genre. It was ok but a bit simplistic by today's standards and feels dated and primitive.

message 3012: by Kristel (new)

Kristel (kristelh) I just finished The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy which was very good and Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys which was okay and a quick read.

message 3013: by P. (new)

P. (shimizusan) | 96 comments A Pale View of Hills by Kazuo Ishiguro

What a curiously relaxing read that was :)

message 3014: by K.D. (new)

K.D. Absolutely (oldkd) | 248 comments Brendan Behan's Borstal Boy. I enjoyed the old Irish songs!

message 3015: by Joselito Honestly (new)

Joselito Honestly and Brilliantly (joselitohonestlyandbrilliantly) | 372 comments there's no tune in books, so they're more like poems than songs.

If you insist they're songs, sing them during the meet-up to demonstrate your claim.

message 3016: by Emma (new)

Emma (mnium) | 135 comments Work got crazy for a long time, then I got laid off, so now I'm back to the list! Finally finished A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Sister Carrie.

Meet-up?

message 3017: by Susan (new)

Susan | 17 comments Took me a week to read The Island of Dr. Moreau, would have finished it sooner if I just had a day to myself to read. Don't have those often enough. At any rate the book was ok not my favorite of the list and I'm sure will not be my least favorite either. I believe that if I had been on that island like Prendick I would have lost a little of humanity in myself. I believe I would have gone completely insane to have to deal with the Laws and those who obeyed them. Those cries of the Puma would haunt my dreams at night where I couldn't rest.

Erik Madame Bovary

2 day read. I like summer.

message 3036: by Lauli (new)

Lauli | 263 comments The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë. Liked it, though nowhere near as good as Emily's "Wuthering Heights". The theme was quite revolutionary (a woman leaving her husband in the mid 19th century) but the treatment of it was a bit moralistic and stereotyped. Enjoyed the story, though.

message 3037: by K.D. (new)

K.D. Absolutely (oldkd) | 248 comments Paul Auster's The Music of Chance. This is my 3rd Auster book and he is still to disappoint me!

Paul Auster did not write Catcher in the Rye, Pandora. J. D. Salinger (may his soul rest in peace) did.

message 3047: by K.D. (new)

K.D. Absolutely (oldkd) | 248 comments Raymond Chandler's The Long Goodbye. Entertaining and easy read!
