Thank you! I thought it was on the iffy side, and I really appreciate your looking so in depth, and offering another suggestion. I think, though, I might go with Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow, since it looks to be more straightforward in its magical aspect, and contains actual trolls, as per the life lesson in question. ;)

chucklesthescot On the Ps and Qs bit here are a few authors you can use...

Chuck Palahniuk, Jean Plaidy, Stephen King, Nicole Peeler, Kerrelyn Sparks, Phaedra Weldon, Stephen Ambrose, Patricia Briggs, James Patterson, Nicholas Sparks, PC Cast, Pamela Des Barres...

TeresaFL | 92 comments Would Lady Chatterley's Lover work for a 5? I'm really having a hard time finding something that I want to read that would fit this category. Plus this is on my to read list for 1001 books so if I can fit it in here that would be great.

Great! I'm off to update my list then.

Yup! There are plenty of myths (and fantasy novels) with dragons.

message 108: by Nancy (new)

Nancy | 138 comments Would Finders Keepers work for a 5. It is a non-fiction book which delves into the world of archaeology, especially archaeological ethics and the questions about what to do with artifacts (leave in place/private collections/museum storerooms). A controversial topic, but I'm not sure if that's what you were looking for.

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments Nancy -- While it isn't what I was exactly seeking, it is a controversial topic so your argument is sound. The book is accepted.

Thanks. I did have a book in mind but wanted to double check. Off to change the spreadsheet yet again.

As long as you don't know much about the topic, I'd say it works. This is Tanja's part of the task, though, so the final call is hers. But until she says otherwise, it's fine!

message 113: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments Sorry about my long absence! Been fighting a cold as well as a nerve issue which has stifled my reading. In fact, I've only read barely a book all fall! Sinful, right?

Sarah -- Since I didn't respond in forever, I'm gonna reward you with a trump card and let you use Stiff. (Regardless that it still works without the trump card, HEE!)

Krista (kristac) | 134 comments Would Decision Points by George W. Bush work fpr # 6?

I didn't know much about the sequence of events and details about the deployment of troops in Afghanistan and Iraq during his terms...

Obviously, I knew it was happening and why..just not specifics..

message 115: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments Krista -- Sure! I applaud anyone reading books that more fully explain a situation/incident/etc. For myself, I knew 9/11 happened and that a plane hit the Pentagon but I didn't know the lengths the firefighters pulled to keep the building intact. Firefight: Inside the Battle to Save the Pentagon on 9/11 revealed a lot to me. So I hope your book does the same for you with Iraq & Afghan :)
