I've got a mystery book -- this The Thirteenth Tale has an invalid ISBN-13 that's one digit off from the ISBN-13 of the most popular hardcover edition, with the same publisher (Atria and Washington Square Press are the same) and page count, but it claims to be paperback. There aren't any edition notes on the reviews (except for one person who had the audiobook and couldn't find that edition), so I suppose it might as well merge over into that hardcover....

Kirbyus, there's a level above librarian called "superlibrarian" -- that's people like Lisa, Michael, and Rivka who are answering the posts in this thread. Regular old librarians like you and me can find books that need to be deleted and report them in this thread; then the superlibrarians swoop in and do the actual deleting.(Despite Melody's rather terrifying lists (*grin*), books don't actually need to be deleted very often....)
I delete Melody's last 4 and am about to recreate them.Librarians can delete editions of books too, being absolutely sure to combine first with the other editions of the book. Superlibrarians are needed if editions/books/other materials exceed a certain number of reviews/ratings/shelves.
It's better to leave something alone, or ask, than to delete (or even edit) just because you can.
Even though I'm very careful, I've been alerted twice to mistakes I have made, and I'm sure that I must have made others; so I try to be very conscientious, as do we all.

Usually I put in both 10 & 13 & notes, but something happened as I was creating the NOT A BOOK and without the ISBN in your post, we'd have had to wait for the cards to appear again in the database and we'd have had to try to get to them with a NOT A BOOK before anyone rated them.)

Edit: Got 'em all. Except the Angela's Ashes film doesn't want to add back in (and good riddance to it), and that last one seems to have been a legit paperback. Didn't realize until I'd deleted it, so anyone who really wanted that edition has been shifted to the other -- oops! But I added it back and re-combined them.
Hmmm. That last one was listed with the not a book listing and had a description saying it was a film. Strange.

Please delete this book (duplicate). It will merge with this book which then needs to be recombined with this book.
And delete this book and this book.This book doesn't actually exist - checked the author's website - and needs to be deleted. It may be a misprint ofthis book, but I don't know for sure. If someone thinks it probably is, then combine it before deleting.

Squirrel, Agreed as it's not from years ago. It's deleted.
This book needs to be deleted. It has a 9 digit ISBN (someone cheated). It's combined with the real edition which will then need to be re-combined with the other editions of the book.

But, there are a lot like this. I've seen it for Harry Potter too.
And I choose to leave them. I won't personally delete them. But, if some other librarian thinks it should be deleted, go ahead.
I hate taking books off others' shelves. This isn't a book, but it's the way some people say they've read every book in a series. It's fine with me. I'm not sure why people don't want to simply rate each book though.
But at least it's a "book" and not a non-book item.
Edit: If we delete such items without messaging all those with it, they might not realize it's gone/might be confused.
That's really how I felt about it too. I'm leaving it alone but anyone else is welcome to take appropriate action on it.
