While I well recognize that the rules of grammar have been (and still are) based on agreement by those invovled in setting standards, there is often a lapse between "accepted grammatical standards" and those demanded by literary magazines and the young MFA's who are often first reader's. Keeping that in mind is there a kindly soul out there who could give a brief exposition on when to use the dash ,the ellipsis and the semicolon? Thanks.
