D. Vernet | 2 comments Hi, please read for free my debut fantasy/fairy tale novel “The Witch’s Stolen Mirror”. I am running free promotion on Amazon this Wednesday, November 15th.

Description: What would you do if a witch’s curse made your body melt away in the first rays of the sun? A feisty girl by the name of Ino remains undaunted. She embarks upon a perilous journey through wild forests, city sewers, and macabre realms inhabited by spirits and monsters. On her way, Ino must unravel many mysteries linked to her own destiny. Why has a once-prosperous town fallen into ruin? What magic is concealed within the artifact of Solento, and why is the vicious lord of the land of Shadows so desperate to get hold of it? Solving these puzzles becomes vital to the heroine’s very survival.

Anne Zandt (poisonpainter) | 4 comments Hi,

I'm Anne, online preferably called Poisonpainter. Writer and Reader from Germany.
I try to turn ideas floating through my mind into written words. This is done through blogging (usually in English, sometimes bilingual) about various topics (e.g. film/book and concert/festival reviews), but mostly through writing short stories about all kinds of topics ranging from fairy tales to nerdom.

Some of my German stories have been published within and through the Bücherstadtkurier, another as part of the #Projekt24. The first chapter of my English blog novel "Neubrandenwolf" is part of the German anthology "Weihnachten und andere Amtsangelegenheiten" (Christmas and other office matters) by the Bundesamt für magische Wesen (Federal Office for Magical Creatures). Others are only available on my blog: http://randompoison.wordpress.com.

Sarah (sarahsweetz25) | 2 comments Hi everyone,

I' m Sweetly ( pen name - Sarah) from India. I am an entrepreneur by passion in Medical Field - UK based for the past 12 years and by profession I am a teacher. I am an avid reader of books.

I am basically here as a flashlight to help my best pal. Also I am here to learn a lot from all established authors and their esteemed works.

I do plan to eventually come out with a self-published book in Children's Literature in November of 2018 and an enchanting and thought-provoking script that has the potential to be made into a movie. I enjoy gardening and I am currently pursuing a new hobby knitting.

Looking forward for help and guidance.

Alexandra Turney (rasputinandthealphabet) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Alexandra, an English teacher and writer living in Rome. I studied English Literature at Oxford and then moved to Rome to follow my dream of...well, living in Rome! And writing.

My novel "In Exile" is going to be published by Unbound later this year. Synopsis: "A melancholy Dionysus is re-born in 20th century Rome and creates a new cult - three teenage girls who will do anything to prove their devotion"

You can read the first couple of chapters and buy the book on Unbound:

My name is Cliff and I am a Zen teacher and coauthor of a spiritual self help book called Find the Seeker! which I coauthored with Zen Master Genro Xuan Lou, Laoshi. The book just came out six days ago, and we started a giveaway for it. We think it is very special, but I guess just about every author thinks this of her or his book. It was a lot of work and a lot to think about, but a rewarding experience. I look forward to being part of the group, making friends and seeing what people like to read. Best Cliff

Tori | 3 comments Hello everyone! Call me C.C.

I'm a writer of sorts, although I suppose at this point "aspiring" is a more appropriate term. Hoping to have something published sooner than later, but right now I'm enjoying the writing process, and rediscovering who I am as a writer.

I love all things spooky, be they gothic, historical (or gothic historical), and/or with a touch more...frivolous fantasy.

Currently polishing up a couple short stories, then it's back to my novel project.

Nice to be here!

Gigi Sedlmayer | 18 comments Hello to all, My name is Gigi Sedlmayer and i am the author of the first five self-published series. the sixth is by the editor to be published soon, i hope anyway.
My books are about:
“Teaching Children Self-Confidence through Service to Others.” Children today face immense pressure to fit in with their peers. This pressure is leading to record rates of depression among preteens and teenagers and this to suicide. Parents look for ways to build their children’s self-esteem; however, teens look to their peers and popular culture for acceptance rather than their parents. This puts parents in a challenging situation. Most children of this age group have issues with acceptance and this is explored and resolved in a positive manner within the story line of the Talon series, Matica shows children and teens that they can overcome great obstacles with love, patience and a selfless attitude toward helping others and experience exciting adventure on the way.

Leslie Hanshew | 7 comments ARGH! I've been writing for the past two hours and I'd like to chuck my computer out of the window because I think every word I've just written is complete and utter garbage! Writing garbage is why editing exists. Write the garbage. Don't worry about how bad or good it is, and then take a step back. Return and edit the garbage into great. When you do step back and return, you may find it isn't as bad as it seems.

Cortney (cmortonbooksloot) | 4 comments Hello, I hope that I'm doing this correctly...

My name is Cortney, I am 19 years old and I start college this fall. I am a huge bookworm, I do write a little, but nothing that I think will ever be published, (friends and family say it's great, I think it's garbage.) I have done a few reviews before and enjoyed doing so, and would love to do it again. My favorite genres are Young Adult, Paranormal, Teen Romance, etc. All time favorite book would have to be either A.C.I.D. by Emma Pass or No Ordinary Girl by Cheryl Elaine, who I am lucky enough to call a friend. If you have any questions please don't hesitate. I'm one of those people who have yet to meet a stranger.

Hello Courtney. I'm Meredith. It's nice to meet you. Don't sell yourself short with your writing. I'm sure your writing is great, and editors can do wonders for areas that are lagging. If you enjoy it, you should really keep with it (even if it's just a hobby right now). And if you don't want to do traditional publishing, you can always self-publish. Many authors are doing that (myself included). If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. I hate to see a writer give up because they think their writing isn't good enough.

Welcome to the group, Courtney. I wouldn't worry to much about your writing being "garbage". We're all a little rough around the edges in the beginning, not to mention most writers I know (including me) think what we write is horrible at some point in the process. If you ever want some feedback, we do have the Reading Nook folder where you can post short excerpts for critique or just to be read.

J. Rubino (jrubino) I am both an author and a reader - in fact, I don't know any authors who are not big readers.
Books: The Jersey shore mystery series
Death of a DJ
Fruitcake
Cheat the Devil
Plot Twist
Cake Job
Raise the Dead
The first 4 books were originally published by a small mystery press that went out of business in '04 - Harper did a PB reprint of book 1, Worldwide put Book 2 in a 3-in-one titled "Homicide for the Holidays". Book 5 was a novella in a 4-in-one, also issued by Worldwide. Book 6 was self-dubbed because it was finished just as the original press went OOP. I re-issued the first three as a 3-in-one on Kindle.

Sherlock Holmes:
Knight Errant, three novellas in one, based on 3 of Holmes "failures."
The Rucastles' Pawn - Kindle only - a retelling of The Copper Beeches from the governess client's point of view.
Another Case of Identity - A short story commissioned by the editor of an upcoming anthology - don't know when it will be out.

Jane Austen:
Lady Vernon and Her Daughter - a retelling of Jane Austen's "Lady Susan", co-authored w/my daughter.
"What Would Austen Do?" a short story in the Austenesque anthology "Jane Austen Made Me Do It."

Chris Veal | 1 comments Hello Everyone,

I'm a data architect by day and an aspiring author by night (or anytime I can sneak in a little writing). I'm currently working on a techno-thriller in the vein of Artificial Intelligence but more closely aligned with data analytics and machine learning; the other side of the coin so to speak.

I'm new here so just fumbling, mumbling, bumbling, stumbling my way around as I get used to my new digs.

Anyway, I'm looking to have people review my stories as well as helping to critique others work.

Look forward to creating a community to share ideas.

Thanks.
