Sarah | 1 comments Hi all!
My name is Sarah (obviously) and I'm a freelance marketing copywriter by day and a novice novelist by night. Ok, I work on my book during the day sometimes too. I just finished the rough draft of my first novel last week. (Woot!) But I have a ton of editing to do. Such a crazy experience. I'm also a bookaholic. Reading has been a huge passion since I was a kid oh so many years ago. I can't wait to meet and talk to other experienced and not-so-experienced authors.

Chuck Briggs (seabrigggmailcom) Hello everyone!

I've been writing seriously, on and off, for about thirty years now. Most of my older efforts will remain chained-up in the sub-cellar where they belong, but I think I'm getting to the point where some of the stuff is almost presentable. As the least accomplished, least distinguished person present, I mostly intend to keep my mouth shut and ears open. Maybe I'll learn something.

Can anyone recommend a free, Internet writer's group to workshop short stories and works in progress? I've been focusing on horror but am interested in other genres too. I try to read a little of everything.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

P.G. Bell Hi there,

I'm P.G. Bell (but feel free to call me Peter), and I've been an avid reader of sci-fi, fantasy and horror for as long as I can remember. I've also been writing in all three genres for the past 15 years, have had a few short stories published here and there, and am just starting the final draft of my first novel.

I'm also an editor over at Impossible Podcasts, where I'm in charge of the "Stories In Print" thread - we produce podcasts and articles on all sorts of sf/f literature, so I'm hoping to find some inspiration here on Goodreads!

Wen-Szu Lin (wenszu) | 5 comments Greetings from Manila! My name is Wen-Szu. Short version of how I got here. From Taiwan originally, grew up in the US, moved to Beijing a few years ago to open up Auntie Anne's Pretzels in China, currently in Manila since my wife (who is from here) will be giving birth to our 2nd child in the coming weeks.

Love to travel, love to write, and love to read. Miss roaming through Barnes & Noble and look at random genres of books, as it just does not feel the same on Amazon. Hope Goodreads can give the opportunity to discover an unexpected great book!

Finished first book that will be published in Dec 2012 about my experiences in opening Auntie Anne's Pretzels in China.

P.J. Roscoe | 51 comments Hello, I'm an author of supernatural fiction and fairy stories for young children. My first novel, 'Echoes' is out now on Amazon and Kindle and I'm still trying to work out the rest! Its true what they say, writing IS only the first step, I've had to learn computers, which isn't going too well! Marketing, which is slow, networking, which is nice and meeting people which can be daunting! But hey, its all part of an experience!! So, hello to all and I hope to learn from you and maybe one day, vice versa??! Blessings P.J Roscoe xx

Rob Krabbe (robkrabbe) | 1 comments Greetings, I am a former Ghost writer, taking a break by using my own name. I am now writing for art sake and for fun rather than spending my creative coin on making coin alone. My name is Rob Krabbe, and I just released my first full length novel in my own name. It is called "The Jake Collins Band and the Fading Silence."

Just a post-apocalyptic-comedy-love-thriller-adventure story. I don't write one genre alone I guess, and write obsessively. Have published or contributed thousands of poems, short stories and musical compositions/songs over my life time, a lot for other artists to record or use.

So I'm very happy to be here and involved in the discussion. This digital wild west is a very challenging place, but offers us a ton of opportunity, especially those who are trying to remain indie.

More about me at www.krabbe.com and glad to be aboard.

message 594: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (peggytownsend) I don't know anyone bloveling but that kind of serial writing has a long and great history. Maupin's 'Tales of the City' in the San Francisco Chronicle was a wonderful example of what you are talking about. As a newspaper reporter, I once wrote a serialized story about tracking down the writers behind almost a dozen 100-year-old love letters found in an old man's house. The series was so popular, news boxes sold out of papers every day it ran. So, I say: Blovel on!

Max Barry did this very successfully with Machine Man back in... 2009 when I look. And it did become very addictive. So much so that when it went from free to paid (small charge) I stumped up. However, he chose his subject (techno-SF)and his narrator (a non-empathetic human) with great care. You can't keep putting across a lot of emotion AND produce the necessary cliff-hanger in 500 words.

P.J. Roscoe | 51 comments Hello fellow authors, readers,
I am an author of supernatural fiction. Currently my first novel, 'Echoes' is making its rounds around Amazon, Kindle, e-books etc. I love the supernatural and history so I combine the two using factual places/people and building in a story.
'Echoes' moves between present day and 15th Century England when Henry Tudor claimed the throne. I've been likened to 'Barbara Erskine' which was an honour and a pleasure!
'Echoes' is available on goodreads if anyone fancies that kind of story - an honest review would be most welcome by other authors/readers.
Writing is my passion, not had writers block...Yet!! But being self-published I've had to learn so many other skills - which takes up a lot of time! Anyone else have any ideas on that?
Anyway, wishing you all many wonderful, flowing writing
P.J Roscoe

Robert Volte (robertvolte) | 4 comments Hello, I'm Robert Volte and I recently published my novel Feet First in the Kindle Store to start. I am currently working with CreateSpace to get it in print very soon.

I built a companion Website at http://www.FeetFirstBook.com and welcome your feedback.

Also, could you give me your reaction to this brief description or "logline:"

Feet First
A prominent podiatrist on the verge of a midlife crisis jumps into a relationship with a voluptuous, foot-obsessed new neighbor only to find himself up to his neck in her husband's explosive real estate scheme.

Does it appeal to you? What, if any, images does it evoke? Do you get a good sense of what the story is about?

Thank you!

Welcome to the group, Robert. The blurb isn't bad, it says quirky romantic mystery/thriller to me. Is that what you were looking for?
