Hi Edward -- Good luck with your blog. Blogs are a devil of a lot of work. Also getting the right tone, being consistently interesting, understanding what people want -- my daughter says I'm the world's worst blogger. Anyway if you succeed in attracting a readership I'd like to hear what you did, as I suppose others would, give the current role of blogging in generating publicity.

If you want to start a dialog on writing you might have a look at the "For a New Novel" topic on my own blog http://ocotilloarts.com though it may be to one side of your interests. The connection is up in the banner area of the blog.

Also, we had an interesting discussion here recently on the "show not tell" dictum.

Anyway welcome.

John Logan (johnaalogan) | 93 comments Hello!
I'm a writer from the Highlands of Scotland.
I've published one novel, The Survival of Thomas Ford, as a Kindle ebook.
My literary agent in London couldn't sell it, even with the support for the book of the film scout who had discovered Slumdog Millionaire, so I had to publish it myself last December!
Been fun though, and hard work too.
All best, John

Mr. E (mrefans) | 4 comments Mr. E is the recently discovered author of the bizarre, voice for the disillusioned and stitch in the side of the self righteous. His writings cover almost all topics of interest and he does not take kindly to the taboo. He dwells with his wife downstairs from his fellow poker player, Hubert Marston, across the hall from Solomon Kane, in the east wing of Hill House beneath the shadows of the Mountains of Madness.

Find me on facebook, twitter and goodreads!

I'm Jaye Frances, a new member and indie author. I write, I read, I buy shoes (not necessarily in that order.)I have three published books, and cross genres easily. I also enjoy writing from the male point of view, though getting inside a guy's brain has been more than a little frightening, from time to time. . .

Augustus Cileone (Gusman) | 2 comments Hi all. Gus Cileone here. Guess what? I'm a writer, too. So far I'm a big hit with friends and my pets. I wrote a comedy/drama about growing up Catholic Italian American, called Feast or Famine. I also wrote a mystery about murder associated with a Philadelphia Quaker school, called A Lesson in Murder. Sort of Dead Poets Society meets Silence of the Lambs. This group looks like a nice place to visit.

Andrew Lawston (andrewlawston) | 22 comments Hello, I'm Andrew. A 30-something writer, actor and publishing manager who lives and works in London with a small black cat and who drinks a great deal of beer.

I published Something Nice - 10 Stories a little while back, a collection of ten of my best short stories written over the last decade or so. I've been writing for fun and profit for a long time now, but mostly on incredibly dull subjects. Something Nice was an opportunity to showcase my essential immaturity, and it's been brilliant fun getting the word out.

You can also see me on Twitter as @alawston, but generally I'm chatting with friends or swapping banter with colleagues on there. It's been suggested I don't take the awesome power of social media entirely seriously.

I look forward to meeting everyone!

Will Hi everyone. my name is Will and I live in Australia. I'm not the author of anything published. I'm hoping to learn a bit more about the writing process, to help me finally come to terms with an urge within me to write, an urge that I haven't been able to ignore (nor had the desire to do so) for twenty-nine years.

I am, however, unusually poorly read and most of what I have written has ended up in the bin, literally. The digital age is helping me 'save' documents rather than binning them, and I'm very much hoping that becoming a member of this group will help me come to a decision about just what kind of writer I want (I'm tempted to say 'need') to be.

If I'm in the wrong place, being unpublished and bearing no portfolio to speak of, then let please let me know. Otherwise, hello and thanks for having me.

I just joined goodreads today, even though I constantly check book reviews on this site. My name is Charmaine, I'm 24 and an illustration student in Philadelphia :)
I read ALOT XD but I also write, and for the first time, I'm determined to finish a story, even though its only a novella.
I joined because I really love this site and hopefully gain some knowledge.
That's me in a nutshell...and I'm starting a blog :)
Wish me Luck :}

I've also written a book for work at home parents who need help managing their time which is currently available on Kindle.

I have also written some children's books (need to get them illustrated) that I intend to publish this year under the pseudonym Joe King.

~❤Rikka❤~ *living is just a symptom of dying* Hajimemashite! My name is Erica/Rikka/Erikai. Interesting story behind the last name... I'm thirteen years old and trying to learn more about writing. I also like to read a lot so I hope I can read loads of awesome stories and stuff by people here :)

I'm both a writer and a reader, though I haven't published anything yet. I do have some stories up on my website, though I think of them more as writing 'doodles.' I often hang out on Twitter and Tumblr when I should be writing. Looking forward to chatting with all you fine people in the future! :)

Massimo Marino | 23 comments Hi there, my name is Massimo and when I do not write...I think about writing.
Am a physicist and computer scientist, with 17 years in fundamental research with CERN and the Lawrence Berkeley Lab. Then moved to the private sector with Apple Inc., and the World Economic Forum. I am now in the leadership team of a start-up based in Geneva, Switzerland and have published a sci-fi, PA novel, Daimones.

Reviewers get a free copy but anyone can have a chance to get a Smashwords coupon by taking The Animal Deaths quiz, based on the novel facts.

Glad to have found this group.

Cheers
Massimo

Zach (gaaran) | 2 comments Hello to everyone! Not really sure what I'm supposed to say in here, but here goes! My name is Zach, and I'm a hobbyist writer that doesn't write nearly as often as I'd like. I'm working on changing that! I love to read of course, but that's not what brought me to this community.

I'm in the fledgling stages of starting an online writing project, but for it to work, I need people to come and participate. What it is, is a choose your own adventure of sorts. I will write a scene of the story, and then ask for suggestions on what happens next. I will use some of them in the following scene and so on! I'm only a few scenes in, but it's turning out to be pretty fun, and I hope to drum up more participation to inspire me.

You can find it at Adventure Time Inc.

I'm happy to offer help and suggestions to other up and coming writers like myself as well, this looks like a good community!
