I am Chinese and I'm going to Sydney for studying in a few months.
I enjoy reading about human thoughts, about psychology. My favorite book is The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoyevsky. I also read poems, I like Rilke, Poe and Baudelaire, but mostly I read them in Chinese.
I started to read in English recently, as a way to improve English and at the same time enjoy reading itself. I am not capable in reading some great works which I used to read in Chinese with the limitation of my English vocabulary, so I started with plays, scripts and children's books. Although they are written in very simple language, I still find them interesting and sometime even thrilling, I guess that's the magic of language.
Anyways, I am excited about going to Australia and meeting Aussie readers! Hello again to everyone, hopefully one day I can read the same book as you guys read in English( probably will take a long time but I am optimistic about it)!

Your English sounds fantastic, Nora! Welcome to you!
Welcome Nora and Jack. Great to have you with us:)

Jack you are welcome to go here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... to promote your work. Make your own thread, that way we will all get to check it out, and within your own thread you can add to it whenever you have news for the readers:)

Welcome Jenna! Of course you can be an honourary Aussie! It's great to have you with us:)
If you'd like to let everyone know about your books (the ones you've written!) you can create your own thread here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... If you check out what other authors have done, you'll get the idea!
{It's good to see you can spell correctly too;)} lol

Hi Carolyn and welcome. My favourite book was also
The Light Between Oceans. I also enjoyed The Rosie Project.

I'm 25, project manager at a graphic design company, married for just over a year and loving it :)
I like to read just about any genre, so really looking forward to the seasonal challenge to try some different stuff :)
Nice to meet everyone, Mell x

A lot of people felt like that I think Jo.

I'm L J Grandi,a loud, proud Aussie chick! I live in the Central Highlands of Victoria, Australia and I'm stoked to see an Aussie group here on goodreads! I've just published my first book, Who Is Davis Spanx? woohoo - it's sooo Aussie it's even got an Aussie slang glossary at the front so all my international readers will pick up the lingo quick smart! I love reading a broad range of genres, of both Aussie and international authors. Matthew Reilly is a fave author, and so is Marian Keyes. The only thing I don't read is gory, murdery stuff, I reckon there's enough violence in the world already, oh and I'm not a fan of sci-fi either.I recently read The Perfect Wife, by Aussie author Katherine Scholes - it was a great read.I spotted the Aussie quiz earlier, so I'm now gonna see how I do with that! Catch ya later! Who Is Davis Spanx?

Welcome LJ, great to have you with us. If you'd like to start your own thread here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... so that you can promote your work, that would be great. Have a browse through the author section, which is "your" place;) It's best not to promote in the threads which are devoted to reading, so starting your own thread (and getting yourself added to the list of Aussie authors too) is the way to go:)
