Introduce yourselves!

Hi Janice, from another author/lurker who has trouble keeping up with reading, writing, and social media too.

My name is Wendy and I live in sunny Sydney ( at least it is today). I love to read and write. In fact, I always thought that I was going to write children’s novels. Unfortunately..."
Hi Wendy, I kinda wish TV didn't exist so I could read more, but I confess to having a few fave shows. Although after they killed off Patrick in Offspring I may give drama series a miss for a bit and channel that emotional outrage into my next book. LOL

Brenda thank you for the Welcome .
These days libraries are a dying breed . You would not b..."
HI Alison, Only 5ft is good. Small things come in small packages. (Jask Brenda!!!!! ;) Welcome from me...... I think I'm about 5 ft when I'm sitting down!;)

Good luck with your publishing dream. Dreams do come true. I just wish I'd started when I was 26!!!!!!!
Jenn (off to find her wrinkle cream!!!!)

Im known as Gertiebee all over the place. I have literally lived in every state/ territory in Australia and various posts around the world. I speak several languages and enjoy reading classic literature of various cultures.
Since joining goodreads i have 'spread my literacy wings' and am now addicted to romance and paranormal YA books.
looking forward to getting to know you all.
xo

I'm looking forward to meeting some other Aussie book lovers, as they are rather scarce in my area!

Anyway, I'm SJ, I live in Melbourne's inner west and love to read. My happy place is any bookshop, whether new or secondhand. I mainly read literary fiction but have been known to stray into genre fic. I'm female and in my early 40s.
:-)
Hi Sarah-Jane, welcome to the group:) And no, you hadn't said anything before...the above is your first comment;)

Nice to meet you all.

I like the smell of old books better :)
You gave your age away though with the whole 'salad days' vs 'dessert days' quote. And because I recognise it, I just gave the fact that I'm closer to dessert than salad too. lol!
Nice to meet another Aussie with wilted lettuce in their salad ;)
A very big welcome Julie:) Lovely to have you with us. And yes, totally agree, nothing beats the smell of a new book.

I am Erica and I am a Brisbane girl born and raised.
I am an ex-primary school teacher, now tutoring part-time and writing mystery/adventure books for 8 - 12 year olds.
I am married, mother to two grown up kids and two labradoodles.
Reading, the enjoyment and encouragement thereof, is my delight and passion. I have had a library card since I was two and I am loving this age of technology that allows me to access books so easily.
Nice to meet you all.

Nice to meet you all:-)
Welcome Diane, lovely to have you in the group:) How much longer are you staying in Australia? I hope you are enjoying your time here...

Diane wrote: "Thanks for the welcomes! I will be here another 5-7 months. I am enjoying this beautiful country. We are trying to see as much of it as possible within our time and budget restrictions. There i..."
You're right there Diane...Australia is a very big country:) I hope you can come back again some time.

I do love the bookstores here in Sydney. I have recently discovered Glebe and it is on my "to-do" list to go there for a day just to browse the second-hand bookshops.
By the way, I also love the look, feel, and smell of a real book. However, I especially love a slightly used book when the pages have gotten a little softer. I bought myself a Kindle when I moved countries thinking it would be practical to use while traveling. And it is good for traveling. However, after reading a couple of books in a row on my Kindle, I start to getting book envy when I see people reading real books out in public. Haha!

Thanks Michael, a lot of thought went into the choosing of it...Lol....probably describes a lot about me :-} heehe

Hi Diane, I really get that, about the feel and smell of books and bookshops. Haha, book envy, it certainly is a different experience reading from a 'device' isn't it? If you like Glebe then you will like Newtown also, if you haven't already discovered it....very eclectic, they also have a Berkelouws bookstore there with a built in coffee shop, Luvly ;-)
