Introduce yourselves!

As for G'day, some men use it more than women. I've heard a lot of men say it, but not many women. :)

Welcome Wilmar. I have a female friend who says g'day even in emails but she is the only person I have ever heard use it male or female.

Lovely to find a group to feel at home here. I joined Goodreads a while ago but have taken my time getting my head around it! My name is Hemat Malak and I live in sunny Bankstown in Sydney, a Vietnamese and Lebanese culinary hub! I work for a local charity as a bean-counter, love reading spiritual books and have written 2 of my own this year. Looking forward to joining some of the discussions here : )

Thanks also for the links Michael - I'll check them out and add myself there too. See ya round!

I've only just discovered this group being a bit of a technophobe (for a while there email and facebook were all I could muster). I'm a Byron Bay-based writer/journo with a love of all styles of writing (although if you chuck in a murder or two, I'm usually a fan for life). Great to be on board and look forward to reading your posts.
xo

It's usually an age thing Liam! My 7 year old grandson can put me straight;)

Thanks, Hemat. Yes, I do carry on but I wouldn't survive as a regional journo without Google and the rest of it. Now, if only we could get the NBN here (it's sluggish satellite broadband for me ;-(

I feel for you Christina - it's very frustrating to wait for something to load. Things advance so quickly though - hopefully you'll have a lightning-fast connection soon : )
Welcome Catherine, lovely to have you with us:) I think I would have put a comma after "kindle", then "plus" art books....but I'm by no means an expert! The way you have written it seems fine to me anyway!

Gotta love the semi colon; a punctuation sign which is sadly not really used these days.
Lots of people use lots of inappropriate commas:)
(Back way back when, it indicated a 'pause, breath)

Dale, I had it belted into me by the nuns so I guess it is something very ingrained these days:) Just shows you what a good beating will make you remember!
I'd be a really tough proof reader - have my pen out going 'change, change, change':))

I don't think I've ever gotten a G'Day from the Ozzie's I spoke to. Though one did give me the stereotypical, "I'm Ozzie, Oi! Oi..."
No, we don't actually say G'Day. well, the people I know don't say it, anyway (although someone may well step in and correct me on that)
Hi and welcome!
