I don't think I've ever gotten a G'Day from the Ozzie's I spoke to. Though one did give me the stereotypical, "I'm Ozzie, Oi! Oi..."

No, we don't actually say G'Day. well, the people I know don't say it, anyway (although someone may well step in and correct me on that)
Hi and welcome!

Suzanne Brandyn (suzannebrandyn) | 64 comments Welcome Wilmar,
As for G'day, some men use it more than women. I've heard a lot of men say it, but not many women. :)

Welcome Wilmar. I have a female friend who says g'day even in emails but she is the only person I have ever heard use it male or female.

S.K. Munt (wordwhisperer) I only ever say it intentionally and NEVER to a foreign person, lol.

Michelle (michelledennisevans) | 4 comments Hello! I'm on the Gold Coast and prefer a book to TV... I read paper, or on my phone/ipad/laptop! And I'm not really a G'Day'er... only if I'm copying someone LOL

Hemat Malak | 29 comments Hi all : )
Lovely to find a group to feel at home here. I joined Goodreads a while ago but have taken my time getting my head around it! My name is Hemat Malak and I live in sunny Bankstown in Sydney, a Vietnamese and Lebanese culinary hub! I work for a local charity as a bean-counter, love reading spiritual books and have written 2 of my own this year. Looking forward to joining some of the discussions here : )

C.A. Larmer (calarmer) Hi guys,
I've only just discovered this group being a bit of a technophobe (for a while there email and facebook were all I could muster). I'm a Byron Bay-based writer/journo with a love of all styles of writing (although if you chuck in a murder or two, I'm usually a fan for life). Great to be on board and look forward to reading your posts.
xo

C.A. Larmer (calarmer) Sad, isn't it? It's like I've been living under a rock... My 12-year-old son thinks my ineptitude is hilarious.

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Welcome to the group, Christina. As someone who has been glued to my computer since I was four, I find your ineptitude strange and frightening.

It's usually an age thing Liam! My 7 year old grandson can put me straight;)

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) :P One of my first memories is playing computer games on my dad's lap. I literally can't remember a time I didn't have a computer.

message 4386: by C.A. (new)

C.A. Larmer (calarmer) Thanks, Dale, and Liam, my older age is my only excuse (I didn't meet my first computer until I was 18 and in my first job, at Cleo in 1988, they were still using manual typewriters - now that is embarrassing on so many fronts). Disinterest caused the rest. But I'm catching up— I do have a blog and have uploaded six ebooks so I'm not as bad as I make out. xo

And my grandson would say the same thing!!! That's why I love this:

Thanks, Hemat. Yes, I do carry on but I wouldn't survive as a regional journo without Google and the rest of it. Now, if only we could get the NBN here (it's sluggish satellite broadband for me ;-(

I feel for you Christina - it's very frustrating to wait for something to load. Things advance so quickly though - hopefully you'll have a lightning-fast connection soon : )

Welcome Catherine, lovely to have you with us:) I think I would have put a comma after "kindle", then "plus" art books....but I'm by no means an expert! The way you have written it seems fine to me anyway!

message 4396: by Sharon (new)

Sharon | 5509 comments Hi Catherine welcome to the group :)

Lee at ReadWriteWish (leeatreadwritewish) | 322 comments I would have left out the 'and' Catherine. But not the semi colon; love my semi colon. ;)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Lee wrote: "I would have left out the 'and' Catherine. But not the semi colon; love my semi colon. ;)"

Gotta love the semi colon; a punctuation sign which is sadly not really used these days.
Lots of people use lots of inappropriate commas:)

(Back way back when, it indicated a 'pause, breath)

message 4399: by Dale (new)

Dale Harcombe | 6949 comments welcome Catherine. I'd have used a comma but, unlike Bette,I'm not a big fan of the semi colon and as Lee said left out the 'and.' Which maybe shows we're all different and no right way to do things.

Dale, I had it belted into me by the nuns so I guess it is something very ingrained these days:) Just shows you what a good beating will make you remember!
I'd be a really tough proof reader - have my pen out going 'change, change, change':))
