Wow! thanks so much! this is a very helpful group!

Thanks for the warm reception, everyone!!! :) You have very interesting discussions going on here...
China!! How is China? There's an Indian journalist, now living in Indonesia, named Pallavi Aiyar who lived in Beijing for five years, from about 2000 or 2002, during the time Beijing hosted the Olympics, and she has written a wonderful book analyzing her stay from various angles, including the political, social and economic aspects, titled Smoke and Mirrors : An Experience of China

You have three day week-ends? You mean four days work and three days holiday???

Keith, you will have to go to the Author Spotlight section, and open a thread for this I'm afraid... http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_...
All promotions have to go here, and then of course you can promote as often as you like, whenever you like:) Thanks!

My name is Lorraine. Originally from Armidale in NSW, I've lived in four countries and eight Australian cities and towns and now reside (mostly) in beautiful beachside Pottsville NSW. Writing has been a lifelong passion, though most of my writing was, by necessity, technical and instructional. Now semi-retired, I can write what I choose, and I'm loving it.

Hi Lorraine, welcome to the group. It's lovely to have you with us. Can you please edit your post to remove the second part (about your book) as you need to start your own thread in the Aussie Author section http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_..., where you can promote your work whenever you want to. Thanks:)

My name is Jasmine, and I am from SA!
I love reading, and am always on the lookout for more books!
Just thought I'd introduce myself, because I am new to the group :)

Thanks, I'm sure I will! :D

I live in Brisbane, married with no children. Husband is a teacher and I raise and train guide dog pups from the age of 8 weeks to around 12 months of age.
I am an avid reader and have been all my life, would absolutely be lost without a book on the bedside table, in my bag etc etc. Am brand new to Goodreads tonight.
Welcome Amanda, and a big happy birthday to you as well! It's lovely to have you with us, and hope you enjoy checking everything out. Wonderful the work you do, working with puppies would be great, though I'd have trouble giving them up;)

That's always good, you can never have too many South Aussies! :)

I must also add that I have managed to publish a few things which I'm currently uploading to goodreads.
I'll keep you posted about what I'm reviewing next though I can't promise to read what the group may want to focus on given the need to keep up with the demands of the show.
Regards,
David
Welcome David, lovely to have you with us:) Your job sounds pretty awesome! Congratulations on that!
For your own benefit, when you want to promote your own work, head on over to our Author Spotlight section http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_... and make your own thread (click on 'new topic' in the top right hand corner) and you can talk about your books, promote etc any time you want.
When you are chatting about the books you are reviewing, click the correct thread (http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...) or any other relevant thread, and could you also link your books too, as we all love to click on them to read the blurb etc.
Well done, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask:)

I'm currently reading Dark Matter by Brett Adams, who is also a Goodreads author, and he's from Perth too. :)

I'm not sure I have the browsing stamina to catch up, so we can just start fresh & I'll figure it out on the way like any other newbie :)
Haha! I agree, the way the notifications come through in a day and a week, let alone 3 months...I don't think it would be possible to catch up! So yes, welcome newbie!! lol
HI, finally some people who might actually be online at the same kind of time as me. :) haha. My name's Rose, I'm 19 and studying Media Arts and Production at the University of Technology Sydney. Don't have much time to read anything other than academic resources most of the time unless the book is that amazingly awesome that the assignments fall by the wayside. I love movies, performance and cats and I've been doing circus classes since I was about 11. Good fun. Nice to be here :)
Thanks :) and maybe. I'm just hoping for any performance opportunities at the moment, I need to get another act together and build up my strength (again).
