Alan Marshall and Ruth Park are particular favourites on mine and I use books by most of the authors you have mentioned with the children I teach. I'm sure you have also discovered Alison Lester, Pamela Allen and Bob Graham. Hi i'm Kelly and i'm from Parramatta. I have just joined this group. I like reading most books including Sci Fi, Horror, some fantasty, True stories, Crime. I'm not really into romance novels. Never read Twilight and not really planning to any time soon. I'm currently reading 'The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes'. I have actually been writing down the books I have read this year (sad I know). Just to see how many books I read in a year and what books. I was actually surprised that i'm reading 3-4 a month since I usually read when i'm travelling on the train or waiting for teacher for TAFE, things like that. I'm open to suggestions.

Like you, I'm not into romance novels and I'm also a fan of Sherlock Holmes. I have all the stories from 'The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' on audio. They are my bedtime stories. I also do a lot of my 'reading' while I am commuting; I listen to books on my little pink MP3 player.

A crime writer I recently discovered is Deon Meyer and, as Brenda said, you'll find lots of other suggestions for books/authors by browsing the threads.

I am a Brisbane writer new to the group, wrestling with the author/writing, crocodile - I'll explain. Sometimes writing and selling a book seems like wrestling a crocodile. Looks easy when someone else does it on tv but once you're in. Oh my ... what have I done, nothing seems to work in getting on top of this bugger. I thought I could do this!!!
