A WA thread, that's hilarious! I'll check it out, thanks!

My name is Bee, I'm 25, live in Sydney and have loved reading ever since I picked up my first Baby Sitters Club book when I was 7. I read almost as many book reviews as I do books, I get obsessed with picking just the right book to read next (kind of an annoying habit actually!).
Some of my favourite books include: The Secret Life of Bees, The Kite Runner, I Capture the Castle, Jasper Jones and so many more! I love books that keep you on the edge of your seat, books you can relate to, books that make you laugh, books that give you an insight on life... oh heck, I just love books!
I'd love to make some friends on Good Reads, so feel free to "friend" me! Looking forward to getting some great recommendations from everyone =)

The Kite Runner is also one of my favourites. I haven't read the others. YET!
A very big welcome Bee! Lovely to have you with us:) Feel free to browse, check out all our favourite books, and I'm sure you'll have lots of friends very soon. We have quite a few members from Sydney as well...

(if he does say so himself!)
btw - we are pretty cool ;)

Since then though, full time study has meant that I rarely read any books. But as of the last few years I’m almost always reading a book or not long between books, even if it’s only 10 pages a day. I think I’ve been a member of this group since not long after I joined GoodReads, but haven’t really followed it. But now I see that the group has come alive, and does look like a great group. I’ve already joined a couple of the challenges!
Wonderful to have you with us Jesse! Great to see you've already joined some challenges too....there'll be more to come soon:)

I am a fantasy author living in Brisbane, Queensland and am relatively new to goodreads. I am an avid reader, although have spent most of my time writing my novels rather than reading lately.
My second book is about to be released shortly (next installment in my epic saga), which is exciting news :)
I tend to read fantasy novels, self improvement books, and anything else that takes my fancy.
I love to make new contacts, so feel free to link up with me.
Peter
Hi Peter, a very big welcome to you! Lovely to have you with us:) Can you put the links to your book/s here, so we can 'check them out'? Thanks:)

First of all... thank you very much for the big welcome and it's great to be part of this group.
Sure, more than happy to put links in. Although you can click my name as I filled out my author profile :D
I have a very active website and twitter account, so feel free to link up with me.
My books:

Twitter: www.twitter.com/peterkoevari
Web: www.peterkoevari.com
(I really hope I haven't overstepped any lines of self promotion... if so, please feel free to slap me... but not too hard please LOL)

No, there's no problem there....you are very welcome to self promote...that's how you will get your books out there!
Another way to link your books is Legends of Marithia: Book 1 - Prophecies Awakening and Darkness Rising (Legends of Marithia, #2) <<Coming Soon>>.
Click on 'add book/author' at the top rhs of this box, then type in the title of your book, and it'll bring it up. If you want to add the author too, then click on 'author' and it will put the name in the comment box as well. If you'd like the cover to show, go down to the bottom after you've clicked 'add book/author' and you will see where to click for that part as well:)
Any more questions, please feel free to ask:)

I joined this group as I fell in love with Australian literature several years ago. I still remember the first Australian novel I read: A Fringe of Leaves by Patrick White :-). I'm not Australian by the way, nor do I live in Australia. I am Dutch and live in the Netherlands. Feel free to browse my books, there is a special shelf for Australian novels.

Welcome Greeneyedlady!
Mijn man is nederlander, en zijn liefde is Australische boeken. Dit is mijn beleving van mijn klein beetje Nederlands!
Enjoy :)
I can't read all 63 pages and see if I said hi; my memory and life gets so busy that sometimes you stay in the shadows. Well here I am saying hi. With this my second post, I thought you might like to know a little about me. I am avid reader of speculative fiction, and write flash fictions and short stories which are published. I also live in North Queensland where Yasi hit very close and felt the cat.5 winds. At the moment doing Nanowrimo and writing a short collection. I am in the process of writing an epic fantasy. And in the middle of a nonfiction editing. I am in the process of looking at the goodreads author program. After nanowrimo, I'll set that up and before I do, I need to do some ground work by getting noticed and such. ;)
Cheers everyone.
Cheers everyone.
A big welcome to you Robert! It's lovely to have you with us:) You sound incredibly busy, good luck with it all...

I'm a Jane Austen fan and of writers of her ilk. Why don't writers tell complex stories and explore themes from differing character perspectives any more? I'm looking for stories that are also literature - stories that require thought and reflection as well as that pull you into the world on the page.
I've just started 'In and Out of Step' by Christine M Knight, an Australian author. I was told 'In and Out of Step' was a great story that was very different from the ones I've just described. Fingers crossed I won't be disappointed again.

Thank you for the big welcome Brenda. As for the busy stuff, well I have set goal targets and manage it okay. But I do get sidetrack as well, like now; but this is a lovely sidetrack and it is part of my other goal target: Getting notice. LOL :)

A big welcome to you Kate! I hope you can find some different books, maybe different genres that you will fall in love with. There are certainly a lot of members who fall into every category you can think of! Browse through the threads, see what you can find...we'll help you if we can:)

You'll find you get sidetracked with Aussie Readers a lot, we all seem to, but it's a wonderful past-time, and you'll 'meet' some lovely people on here as well:)

I read constantly (it's a running joke with people in my office building. They're shocked whenever they see me walking to/from/downstairs/to the coffee shop without a book).
So excited to meet fellow Aussie book bloggers and readers :)

Welcome to the group :) Im from Adelaide too

A very big welcome to you Ber! Lovely to have you in our group...please feel free to browse, comment, and check it all out! We are a very friendly bunch:)
Ber Carroll ..you have some great books out Ber, just looking at your profile!

I knew there'd be an Aussie group here somewhere, there always is ;-)
So, a little about me, I'm Australian (Tasmanian if we want to be specific!) but I've spent nearly four years living in the Netherlands. I can now say I've seen more snow in four years here than all of my 25 years in Australia.
I'm addicted to reading and then blogging about it - if you feel so inclined you can check out my blog http://theaussiezombie.blogspot.com/.
I'm glad I found you guys!!
Welcome new comers :D
sorry Im a bit behind great to have you all here
sorry Im a bit behind great to have you all here

I'm from the - at the moment, very wet - Blue Mountains - a perfect place to snuggle up with a good book.
I joined Good Reads ages ago, but haven't explored it till now. I'm glad I stumbled across the Aussie book readers' group.
I'm an eclectic reader. At the moment, I'm catching up books by contemporary Australian women writers (I never knew there were so many till I started searching!) - particularly crime fiction. Now, off to see if there's a crime thread I can join. :)
