Introduce yourselves!

It's Maggie from Canberra. I love reading and finished 3 books last week - 'Before I go to sleep', 'The Graveyard Book' and 'Zahir' by Paulo Coelho. Few ideas from the Zahir linger on and need time to process them. Will be starting 'Kafka on the Shore" by Haruki Murakami soon.
Cheers
Maggie

It is in the process of being formatted as an ebook, so I'm looking forward to that.
I've been a member of goodreads for a while but have only just realised how great it is. Anything to do with reading and writing has me hooked.

congratulations on your book, Jeanette. Ebooks seem to be the future for many books, doesn't it.

I work in the city but home is in the eastern 'burbs so I spend a good 2 hours on the train 5 days a week. Gives me plenty of time to read and has me in love with my e-reader because it lets me read anything I want without worrying about whether it's too big to fit in my bag!
As I said before, welcome Emily! We have a few members from Melbourne and surrounds! Wow, that's a long time on the train each day, but great for reading:) What sort of e-reader do you have?

Brenda, I am a kindle reader since April this year and I am totally hooked.
Hi Carmel, Bendigo is a nice town, and some nice food and wine in the region (2 of my favourite things!)

Carmel, love Heathcote and Waterwheel, don't think I've tried the others yet but I will keep an eye out for them and when I enjoy a glass of Bendigo wine I will think of you! :)

Thanks Emily...I'm still thinking about whether or not to get one;D

I'm Simon Haynes, a Western Australian author and a keen reader since I could hold a book. I was first published by Fremantle Press in 2005 and they've released four of my novels all told.
Ever since my first novel was released I've been doing school and library visits to get upper primary students interested in writing and reading, even though I wasn't publishing anything for that age group. (I fell into these school visits almost by accident, and kept getting invited!)
So, last year I took a break from adult fiction to write my first childrens' book. After it was done I looked around at the competition to make it easier to pitch to my publisher, and I came up with ... absolutely nothing. My book is science fiction comedy for ages 9+, and it's like there's a big hole in the market.
Still, it's coming out this month and I guess I'll soon know whether it's a niche market or not. I'm doing a Goodreads giveaway right now, and I'm also keen to get the word out to school librarians who may be looking around for fun science fiction - especially for reluctant readers.

Hi Simon
Sound like a good book. I'm a little disappointed that I already got my nephew his birthday and xmas gift. I'll put it on my TBR list so I remember for next year.
Btw I live in golden beach!!!!

I've always been an avid reader of light fiction, more so since the increased popularity of ebooks has made them more affordable. I've owned a Kobo, now wouldn't be without my Kindle and am looking forward to finding out more about local authors and some good quality reads.

I was in my living room, & I forgot my book in my bedroom, so I picked up another book that I hadn't started yet, titled, THE KILLING SONG by P.J. Parrish. Well, the book is so exciting that I just haven't been able to put it down! It's a thriller that takes you all over Europe. I'm really enjoying it & I strongly recommend it for anyone who likes mystery/suspense novels. I'm also reading THREE by Ted Dekker, & he's also one of my "new" favorite authors. He's in to paranormal too. His book also starts out with a BANG, so you don't want to miss it.
Last but not least, I'm reading DRY BONES by Peter May. This is also set in France & it's a mystery too. I'm halfway through it & it's driving me nuts trying to figure out who dunnit! ;)
Well, these are just three books that I'm enjoying so far. What's everyone else reading? Any recommendations?
Ciao For Now,
