Sherri (fabledhattress) | 456 comments Lol, well not necessarily Adelaide itself but the Hills area. And we traveled pretty close to the area back in '07 so I'm so excited to get back there. :) And in my opinion, Australia is the best place to be ;)

Adelaide is a gorgeous city, we visit often, lived there awhile ourselves, and our daughter was born there. We also have quite a large number of our special members who live in the area too Sherri, so you'll be able to chat to them also:)

Sherri (fabledhattress) | 456 comments Thanks Brenda :) I will definitely do that. And I have a question, do you know of some bookstores in that area that are good?

We have just had major closures of a lot of our good bookstores all over Australia...Borders, Angus & Robertson...but there are some independent bookstores around. I'll leave that question to be answered by either Maggie, Jess or Michael, or anyone else in the area who has more information.

Have a browse of this thread Sherri... http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/4...

★ Jess | 3071 comments Well, as Michael said, Dymocks in Rundle Mall is the only big store in Adelaide now. No more Borders or Angus & Robertson. There are lots of independent stores though. The ones at Edwardstown, Unley Shopping Centre & Norwood Parade automatically spring to mind.
Oh, and Mary Martin bookshops are so nifty! There is one on Rundle Street, and one on the Norwood Parade. Those places are so cool.
As for the Hills area, I honestly dont know many. The only ones that I can think of, as hard as I can, are the two in the main-area of Stirling. There is an independent bookstore ('Matilda's' I think) by the main road, and an awesome second hand bookshop next door.
And there are lots of second hand bookshops around the place.

Michael (knowledgelost) It is Mish, but the only one I really wanted to see was the Sagrada Familia. There are no words to describe it, no picture can do it justice

message 2224: by Mish (new)

Mish | 3601 comments I totally agree Knowledge…It is an awesome temple. I have not seen anything like before in my life.

Park Guell is another place I really enjoyed and basically anything by Gaudi….I think he’s a genius and so so ahead of his time :)

Enjoy your holiday Knowledge. Where are you off to next?

Kim | 42 comments Hi all! I am new in these fields, but feel I fit right in with my severe addiction to the written word. I love books. I got two in the mail today and am half way through one already, sorry uni, you're on the backburner for a few hours.
So, I'm a book lover, uni student and not much else, I like other stuff, but nothing comes close to books :P

Hi I'm Jan Richards, Aussie reader and writer. I read all sorts of genres, although I'm reading a fair bit of crime at the moment, possibly because that's what I'm writing. I've always been a big reader - at high school I was the librarian's pet! (I reckon I read every book in the school library.) As a young adult I went off reading for a while, too many distractions, but I'm back with it now. I love my Kindle. I really love that it's so easy to access books from all over the world, books you just don't find in a bookstore. (Apologies to all those struggling bookstores out there.) As well as reading, I read a lot about books and writers. I also watch Jennifer Byrnes Tuesday Book Club, and keep up with new releases through the newspapers. Like everyone I guess, the main problem is finding the time to read all the great books you want to read. I live on the Sunshine Coast - it's a beautiful day here today, warm sunny. My book, a crime novel featuring novice PI Dusty Dexter is set right here. It's currently being serialised in 9 APN regional newspapers which is very exciting. Soon it will be available on Amazon.
I've just joined Goodreads and I'm looking forward to talking books!

Welcome Jan!!!!!!!! I was just like you when I was in 11th Grade in public school!!!! I spent every bit of my free time in the library and I was even the Librarian's assistant. I wound up being the only student that she trusted with her key rings and I got special treatment just because I LOVED the library!!!! I read every single book within the year I was there!!!!
