You cracked me up with that comment Gail :D

I am currently working three days a week (two in the office and one at home) as an accountant after only recently returning from having our first baby who is now almost 4 months old. Time sure flies!
I absolutely love reading and have been a bit of a bookworm all my life, most likely because I was an only child so books were my usual way to pass the time.
I'm also a bit of an animal lover who has studied and worked casually on and off as a vet nurse as a bit of a hobby and we currently have two dogs, two cats and a duck that rule our household.
I already have a bit of a personal reading 'to do' list that I want to get through over the next couple of months but am very interested in getting extra book ideas from other readers in groups like these for when I start to look for more to start reading.
Looking forward to getting to know you guys :-)
Welcome Michelle!
I'm sure you will now find that your personal reading list will grow...maybe even uncontrollably now that your here.
I'm sure Michael will be along any moment to tell you to read "before I go to Sleep" :D
what type of books are you interested in reading?

Very big welcome Michelle! Lovely to have you with us:) I'm close to you, I live in Newcastle:) I was only down in the Central Coast yesterday..lol
is that how much michael has earned?

I usually like reading anything in the mystery/thriller/crime genre. I'm actually stuck in the middle of reading all the Sookie Stackhouse novels at the moment as a friend of mine was obsessed with them and practically forced me to read them too. Now I've started I have to get through them all as I hate not finishing a series if I start it. They aren't really something to read if you want intellectual stimulation but they are a bit fun.
I try not to be too stuck in a rut with what I read and am open to anything if it looks interesting enough.

Another great author of thriller/suspense/mystery genre Michelle, is Karin Slaughter..I've just this minute finished her latest, Fallen. It was fabulous...I'll have a review up soon!

Michelle: So I got home, thought I'd just sit down after dinner, with a good book, maybe see what Sookie has been up to lately, looks like I'll have a few hours to finish off book #76 in the series. But before I actually do that, I might just hop on to Goodreads and see what those strange people on the Aussie readers group have posted today.......... 3 hours later........ er, where did my night go?
I need to finish book #76 and write a review for books #62 - #75. But, I have to finish this damn book , Before I Go to Sleep, before i go to sleep.
Sigh, I wonder if I should have joined another group?

Hahahah!!!! Lee, you have blended your way into our group with ease.....I know what you mean by losing 3 hours....No, you would not have anywhere near the fun in another group;D

erikson Vs Hendee
Book 3 vs book 5
38 more characters vs 1 new character
maybe I'll just spend some time adding ratings

So, we'd better trot over to the chat thread, so this one can get back on topic? Thanks guys!!! ;D

She knows what to expect. Over to the random thread, where the talk is even more........ weird.

Otherwise Pam & I travel as often as we can with my 4WD and caravan. I have been bushwalking since I was a teenager, although I ma slowing done a bit now - my knees aren't what they used to be!
Pam & I recently spent two weeks on Rarotonga (Cook Islands) and a week on Magnetic Island (Townsville).
Travelled over most of Australia, except SW of West Australia and the Pilbara/Shark Bay/Carnarvon area. Will get there eventually.
Cheers
Bob ("Jack Bogong")

Big welcome Jack! Lovely to have you with us. Lovely to hear about yours and Pam's travels too. Australia is a wonderful country to travel around in, isn't it..:)

By the way Michael, I do have some Lisa Gardner books but I just haven't gotten around to them as yet.
I used to work for a book distributor a few years ago and they had monthly staff book sales so I managed to accumulate hundreds of books in the 5 years I was there which I am still working my way through 10 years later. I like to buy new ones now and then but feel guilty when I still have so many that I've had for years and haven't read yet.

That would be awesome, but I would spend too much

Hello, Michelle! You're so welcome here. They're a fun bunch - liven things up no end.
Animals, yes! We have a 13 year old dog and a fat 5 year old cat. Dog still barks but never bites, cat doesn't "do" trees & birds but is darned good on mice! (We live in country Queensland and atm the cute smelly little critters are everywhere.)
Enjoy your participation in the group and your reading. Not into thrillers etc myself, (or vampires etc) but writers would have a hard time of it if everyone liked the same thing.
Don't know how you find time to get on the computer with a job and a bub. I'm one of the generation who were expected to be stay at home mums and housekeepers. I so admire you girls who do so much!

Hello Jack and welcome! Hubby and I did a little travelling around the country at different times but are too decrepit now. You're certainly experiencing great journeys around Oz and other parts.
In my overstuffed library I have non-fiction and Australian fiction by Ion Idriess, Ernestine Hill, Frank Dalby Davison and several others. At present I'm still on Patrick O'Brian's rattling good Aubrey-Maturin yarns.
You'll enjoy the group. Happy reading and happy travelling.
Monya (aka Mary)

Thanks all for your welcome.
I have just bought a second-hand off-road caravan. We used to have a Jayco wind-up camper-trailer, but the new van will be more comfortable and easier to set up.
Still reading various books & mags in between other projects. Just started to read Jean Auel's latest book in the Earth's Children series - "The Land of Painted Caves". I have read all the previous books. I found the earlier books in the series more interesting as they covered Ayla's travels. The last two are more about sedentary life with Jondelar's people. (This will mean something to those who have read the books).
Cheers - Jack
