Introduce yourselves!

I love YA books too, Megan. Maybe we can discuss/share/recommend books sometime :)

I would be keen to discuss books Jessica. Carmel recommended Melina Marchetta to me above - I have a copy of Looking for Alibrandi but have never read any more of her books. Think I might hunt her out.

I dont even own any Marchetta, which is weird because I have like, 500 books-the majority being YA. She is probably the only main-stream YA author I dont own. However, Im going to read On the Jellicoe Road really soon.

Welcome Megan
I enjoy New Zealand literature as well. Have been reading a few novels either set in, or written by New Zealand authors. Have quite a list of ones still to read :)

I was looking at On the Jellicoe Road - think I might join you with that one Jessica... soon...ish

Megan, I checked your book list:) hope you don't mind & noticed you have Elizabeth Knox's The Vinter's Luck on you TBR list, I ..."
I know - she is an NZ writer I feel bad for not having read. Book is sitting in the bookcase...

Apart from that lately I've been enjoying books that twist reality a bit like Haruki Murakami's Wind Up Bird Chronicles or Jonathan Safran Foer's Everything is Illuminated.
Sorry - I don't know how to make titles into a link.

And Harry Potter i think you and Jess will get in brilliantly."
Thanks

I really would like to make some new goodreads friends (I have 1) and discuss books of interest, but also join some challenges and read genres I wouldn't normally read. I am also looking forward to reading other people's reviews as it is something I would like to do better. Writing a good review is daunting.
Look forward to sharing thoughts with y'all.
Lee

I'm interested in buying a Kindle to use in Oz and for a wireless download. I think that is what I have as I don't plug in my computer to the Internet. I wonder what you bought. When I looked at the Amazon yesterday, there were three sorts ranging from $114 to three hundred and something I think. Laurel

However this year I have decided to delve into my Australian heritage and start checking out the Australian scene. I was pleasantly suprised to discover just how many of the books my mother gave me growing up are Australian classics (which never crossed my mind at the time) but past that I don't know huge amounts about what is going on in Aust - would love to know more.
Aside from that I am fascinated by books with interesting structures that make me think and by YA fantasy which takes me into new worlds.
