Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9985 comments thanks for the welcome. After I posted it, I thought, oh, my, that's so long, people won't bother past the 3rd line......should have done it in manageable bites

Dzintra aka Ingrid | 28 comments Thanks Carmel...here is a brief introduction...

My name is Dzintra and I have been known as Ingrid which is actually my middle name...since we moved to the coast 4 years ago I have been using Dzintra (pronounced without the D)...

We have a daughter with a disability and she keeps us busy...I love to read...cook...sew and take walks along the beach...

I have been a member of Goodreads for a while now...just putting up a finished book on my blog and slowly building a montage...I never really thought to make any comments here but I was looking through at some and saw that Jan had broken her arm last year...That intrigued me and I actually got in touch with her as I have broken my arm...just come out of the sling and doing physio and it hurts!!!

Oh well, this is a start...

Thanks Carmel...and yes activities were/are a challenge at the moment...lucky Hubby was able to take time off work these past weeks to help out with our daughter...and our little grandson who is here for a week!!!
The members here are very friendly!!!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9985 comments Thanks all for the welcome. Thanks Brenda for your kind comment. I regret that I don't have comments or reviews for all the books I have devoured over the years, but I'm writing something for each one I read from now on.

Same Marianne...I just read, and read, then read some more....didn't even think to comment..plus where would I put the comment. THEN along came Goodreads and Aussie Readers....things are a whole lot different now! Read much more, enjoy chatting about the books, and I've learnt how to write about my enjoyment (or not) of a book here too! :)

message 1422: by Balthazar (new)

Balthazar Lawson Hello, I'm Balthazar. This is my online persona to protect the innocent. No need for my opinions to impact upon others. I'm from Canberra and, don't hold it against me, I'm a public servant. Have been for 20 years. I do most of my reading on the bus to and from work or over a cup of coffee. I read a wide variety of books but it depends greatly upon my mood and book availability. At the moment I'm reading a lot of crime/action/thriller style books.

I do enjoy reading Australian books and like to find new authors. Some of my favourites are David A. Rollins, James Phelan and Tara Moss to name a few.

Away from work I enjoy riding my bicycle through the bush allowing the path to take me where it will. It's all part of my get fit campaign during which I've lost over 35 kg in 18 months.

For the time being I'm old fashioned and read paper books but I know down the track I'll get myself an e reader. Those available at the moment leave a bit to be desired, even if they do do the job, and I'll wait until they get more mature.

I've kept a list of all the books I've read for over 25 years and have finally updated my books with the details.

Shaking finger at all of you like the old grandma I am... Candy and cookies indeed. THOSE ARE AMERICAN WORDS AND THIS IS THE AUSSIE READERS THREAD. The right words are 'lollies and biscuits!' Say it after me! "Lollies and biscuits!!"

Looks like I'm a cranky old grandma! But beware, I shall step on anything un-Australian. So there.

On Anzac Day too. For shame!

Then again, I didn't make any Anzac biscuits. Smacks own fingers...

Monya (aka Mary)

::hangs head in shame::

message 1445: by [deleted user] (new)

*shuffles feet* we're sorry

message 1446: by [deleted user] (new)

repeats after Monya.
'lollies and biscuits, lollies and biscuits'

Got it.

message 1447: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) I love the fact that grandma is not even concerned about turning people to the dark side

message 1448: by Neko (new)

Neko biccies and lollies...I still say those words...I don't like using the word cookies much...Though the word candy i use from time to time.

Welcome, Balthazar. I'm just along the road from you (well, kinda) in Sydney. OK being from Canberra as long as you read good books, and it seems you do, lol.

Melanie wrote: "should take him down to the spit to play with the other pups on the beach"

Melanie, we took the dog to the Spit over the weekend and absolutely LOVED it. We did, and so did the dog. What a beautiful part of the world. Sounds so nerdy to say but that whole walk along Broadwater with the water on one side and amazing community parks etc on the other reminded me of weekly walks I used to take along the Hudson River in New York. Thank you for the tip-off!
