I am a very slack, fellow dinky di (Sydneysider) that Mandy invited back in September 2010. You shouldn't rush these things - they could get in the way of a good read. I am also not overly patriotic when it comes to reading - although I do enjoy Peter Fitzsimons (non-sport and I minutes ago I finally found a copy of his Nancy Wake on a UK website) books and one of the best I have read is Paul Ham's Vietnam: The Australian War http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/42...
I am obsessed mainly with crime fiction, W.W.II (fiction and non), Vietnam (n-f), the cold war spy-v-spy)(fiction) and more recently have discovered historical fiction and history. I read a lot and have recently made the transition to a Kindle. I have found that the site www.bookdepository.co.uk (great pricing and free delivery), goodreads and www.fantasticfiction.co.uk have greatly aided my reseach and reading needs. I am one of those terrible people who avoids bookshops and libraries. I find it so much easier to feed the addiction through research and purchase via the PC. Good luck to everyone and I look forward to sharing your opinions.
Welcome to the group Richard. Reading Aussie books isn't a condition of entry. We will only burn you at the stake if we find you reading non-aussie books. :D
Okay so I lie, we read just about everything available in print. Hope you can join us in some of our discussions.

But now I'll scrub out the idea of you frolocking with the sheeps..ehehehe I think that'd be a cool job too...Just use a laptop and wifi, sit under a tree and the occasional run with the sheep...Sounds blissful.

Hi Tim, a very big welcome to our wonderful group!! Feel free to join any of our discussions any time you like :)

It's so great to find other aussie readers to network with. I have recently started up a book review blog at The Australian Bookshelf http://www.australianbookshelf.wordpr... and am open to ideas to expand my blog and get some followers.
My blog features book reviews and in April 2011 will become a tour host for virtual book blog tours with several authors already lined up to make a pit stop at my blog.
I love to read, write and share with others through my blog. It's a great way for me to take time out from my day job as a psychologist!
I look forward to meeting some of you via our blogs
Regards,
Jayne
