Introduce yourselves!

Have always had a love of books. Have in recent years been reading YA books as I have two teenage children. Just recently finished The Tomorrow Series and Ellie Chronicles. Now reading North & South.

Hi Mandy, thanks for the welcome, and your interesting group. I am having trouble uploading a photo to the site and Poet David J suggested to ask if you could help. Do you have a suggestion?

Hi Sharon, YA books are extremely popular in this group so I'm sure you'll find lots of people to talk to. Lots of suggestions for YA by Aussie authors in our group bookshelf too. Welcome aboard!

Hi Gail,
Absolutely loving North and South. It is beautifully written and so hard to put down. I love the proper way they act towards each other during this time period but at the same time find it so frustrating. It is amazing how people can delude themselves into thinking their feelings are one way when in reality they are the opposite simply for doing what is proper and expected of them.

My name is Maria and I'm from Bratislava-Slovakia. I previously lived for 8 years and 4 months in Sydney-Australia where I studies, lived and worked. Ahhhh..goosh...We never hear the end of Princess Mary due to her coming from here. But it was funny in the newspaper they had a section for what people would call the twins if given the chance.

I am a new member, just joined up today. I actually only just joined good reads a couple of days ago, but i think i'm already addicted. ;)
I currently am living in SA, just moved back here after living in the USA for 8 years.
I am a BIG reader.. when we moved back here i had 5 bookcases of books to get rid of (couldnt bring them, shipping price was astronomical), so i am currently in the process of rebuilding my book collection.
Looking forward to being part of the group.

Welcome to the group Tammy. Goodreads is certainly addictive but it's lots of fun as well! Hope you enjoy yourself!:)

Yes, I'm finding it quite addictive here as well. Just makes me want to read more. LOL
I can't imagine having to leave all those books behind. Must have been difficult. Sounds like a collection on an eReader could have been a good thing for you in this case.
Have fund restocking your shelves. :o)

Welcome to goodreads, Tammy.

I have just joined Goodreads, it was recommended to me by someone on livejournal, Brisvegus after Librarything annoyed me.
I live in Brisbane having moved here from Cairns about five years ago, but I have lived all over Australia. I work horrible shifts in a pathology laboratory. I travel o/s whenever possible, most recently Fiji. I read omnivorously and quite fast – city libraries are my best friends.
Welcome Ideiosepius, I'm more of a herbivous reader, I like to chew over it slowly. :)

I've just recently joined Goodreads, trying to figure out all its bits and pieces, and came across this lovely group :)
I'm from Newcastle, NSW and I have a terrible book obsession. I'll read just about anything but I love travel writing.
I look forward to being part of this group!
Cheers

I'm not an Aussie, but if you would call me an aussiephile I wouldn't be offended :) I'm from Belgium, but I have travelled extensively around Australia. It's certainly one of my top 3 countries in the world. I also have quite a few Australian books in my home library. Right now I'm reading Mailman of the Birdsville Track: The Story of Tom Kruse. Well there you go, I hope to discover many new and interesting Aussie books to read in this group.
Cheers, Guy
Very big welcome, Guy! :)
I just reserved the book you are reading at my library, it sounds really interesting...thanks..:D Onto my TBR list!!

I live in Melbourne and consider myself a 'chain reader' - I put down one book and instantly pick up another. I am currently trying to work my way through my non'fiction collection and resist buying new books. Visiting the library is a dangerous 'sport' as I usually leave with an arm load I can't possible read by the due date. I especially love Australian picture book and young adult authors.
I'm a primary school teacher and my number one goal is to pass on a passion for reading to my students.
Looking forward to being a part of Goodreads and this forum.
:) Kass
Hi! I don't live in Australia anymore but I grew up a strong patriotic! This group looks really exciting, I knew I could count on the Aussies!
I mainly read romance and young adult fiction.

New Zealand - you would be amazed at how much they rib us Aussies

Hi Rena I lived in NZ for a year and could not resist buying a T-Shirt that claimed something along these lines - "I support New Zealand and any team playing Australia". They do love to give us a hard time. :)

Hello Guy - welcome to the group!
Aussie authors - older ones - are Ernestine Hill, Ion Idriess for non-fiction. Eleanor Dark wrote "The Timeless Land", oh, there's lots more. Ivan Southall wrote non-fiction books about W.W.II, best were "Softly Tread The Brave" and "They Shall Not Pass Unseen" about Australians in the RAF flying boat squadrons. And children's books. Nancy Cato wrote novels, notably "All The Rivers Run." I expect you've heard of all of them.
There was a television special about Tom Kruse a few years ago; very interesting. Remarkable man, simply thought he was doing his job.
